Challenge #663 - Up and down the River
_______________

I live close by a river and have always been intrigued by the riverine environment. River shots of any nature will be accepted. Good if you can tell that it's a river but I will take your word for it. Landscapes or closeups or whatever floats your boat :) if it is associated with a river or river environment. Good luck to all!

Remember, if you post a photo, you may be the winner. Be to host and judge a new challenge.

So it all came down to Teekay, Trumper, Stiga and Carloy.

Carloy- I love the mood and color palette. Very November! The Columbia is far from me but it looks like a river I could love.

Trumper- I kayak in wilderness settings. This is such a great place to shoot from a kayak! Tudor style surroundings.

Stiga- That is a wonderful picture of a river that tells a tale so ancient and historic. Old bridges and old houses and a lovely path to walk. Beautiful!

Teekay- A hot river takes the cake. You can catch your fish pre-cooked. I am looking forward to the story on this photo.... Yellowstone?

Maureen- It's hard to lose with an S-curve in the river photo. This one's a winner.

M-six- Yep! That's a real live urban river! I think we have some photos that are similar in nature. For a country boy like me, that part of Chicago is a lot of standing and looking up at the buildings. And the obligatory trip up Sears Tower.... or whatever it is at this point.

Jim Askew- This could be one of the many old iron bridges in PA, NY or all over the east. I LOVE that look!

Oh Look- I don't really know the Merced. I was trying to decide.... snow or sand? Judging by the photog's clothes, I'd guess sand. I can't wait to hear what's going on in this pic.

Well, my pick is Teekay first, Stiga second, and I had a really hard time choosing Trumper or Carloy.... it's a toss-up!

Congrats Teekay, so very sorry I left you with a short week.

Thanks for your patience and for all your wonderful submissions this week. I love them all.

Steve

Congratulations to teekay and all other winners!

Steve, the Merced runs through Yosemite Valley. By November, its level is low, and it leaves stretches of sandy beach. That photo was taken in 2014. In this one, from November 2013, also during the California drought, the foreground is dry riverbed. There was water in a channel to the right, beyond the island.
