DxO Optic Pro 11, for MacOS and Windows, is a state of the art RAW processor - some think it is superior to Adobe Camera Raw.

Because DxO have a new product (DxO PhotoLab), its predecessor is being offered free for a limited period. Get it now before the end of November, it is well worth having.

Here is the download link (external link). You can check if your camera/lenses are supported here (external link)

I know that details of this free offer have been mentioned elsewhere in the forum, but some of you may have missed it.

Martin,

I did miss it, so thank you. And the timing could not be better.

I received notification that my CC sub is about to expire. I do not use Lightroom at all, and rarely the PS CC. I subbed to CC (at a great discount) for one reason only: the ACR Process 2012 engine. That's all I do with CC - RAW development. If I continue with CC, I cannot get a discount. That's why this:

is of special interest to me. If I can find something to develop raw as good as the 2012 process engine, it will allow me to dump adobe and their software rental business model.

I did pre-order Luminar in hopes their raw development is good, but it's not shipping now.

So again, thanks. When time allows I'll compare the raw development capabilities of both.

You're welcome. I'm glad I hooked someone who did not know about it.

As my eyesight is poor, I find the DXO interface much easier to read but, be warned, it is slower than ACR IMO.

Good luck with it.

You're supposed to buy the magazine, I did. Spirit of the law. Tried a couple of edits and they looked good. The different order to the way LR puts things is a little confusing, but will become second nature once you get used to it.

DXO took over NIK Collection from Google and will release an updated 2018 version. That is exciting, I love using the Analog Efex Pro...

Will Nik still be free? Or will you have to pay?

Download a copy and keep it in a safe place before it disappears!

The Nik collection, such as Google bought it, is still available for free and was said to remain so for some limited time after DxO acquired it.

Further collection developments are expected to be be found within the payable DxO PhotoLab editor, which already implemented it.

but the DXO with the "updated" NIK Collection will be available mid-2018... at a price, which is fair since they 'bought' it from Google.

I already sent a request if they will add it. Just got a generic email saying they are always trying to add new modules. But the xt1 isn't new it's been out for years

I read it to be that a new Nik collection (not Photolab) will be out next year but there was no mention of free or paid.

You can. It is built right into the 'Optics Modules' menu.
