I have cut my online time considerably, but I will always find my way back to POTN. <3

I am a veteran of 35 years of major, chronic depression. By this time in my life it is well managed, though still a daily challenge. A few health issues of late combined with some unfortunate incidences conspired to remind me how rough it can get. Fortunately it was really only a taste, a "Remember me?" and a warning about diligence. But when I am stricken, eventually I strike back. I am rid of the outward effects of the depression, but it's memory is strong. I am now in the process of transcribing those memories...

I give you "Mad Grace" in its infancy and such as it is...

If you are like me and don't trust links, you can find the "Mad Grace" gallery on the site (under self portraits) listed in my sig. Here is one image from the series - to give an idea. I am holding back the more emotional pieces out of respect.

Fwiw - these are single exposure and are effectively sooc (I converted to B&W in RAW)

I welcome comments and observations.

Kindness,

Julia

PS - Man Ray is influential in getting me to resurrect and expand upon my experimental/surreal techniques.

"Where to Begin" is... Wow. That's a powerful image to me.

Unfortunately, I can relate to your struggle with depression. I'm on an upswing lately and riding this wave for all it's worth.

You're an asset here, Julian, as far as my opinion goes.

Have a wheelie nice day!

Wow. Intense and interesting stuff. Thanks for sharing.

I'm not sure if you would be familiar with the work of John Singletary, but you may be interested to look at his work also.

Thank you for the kind words Sasquatch. Best of luck with your struggles. (and enjoy the ride when you can :) )<3

John Singletary sounds familiar, but only vaguely. Gonna have to look him up - thank you for the heads up. :-)

Wonderful images, Julia. Unique, intense and powerful. As always I'm impressed at how you light your images.

Stay strong, love.
