I know this is the 200mm thread however Thanks again for helping me decide between the 200 and 300. I couldn't be more happy with my decision to get the 300.

This test shot was handheld using the 300 markII and the 1.4xIII teleconverter.

Yup no problem. With the things you pointed out the 300 made more sense. Excellent image.

From a recent senior session. I'm finding this lens to me the most frequently used lately, if it wasn't so heavy I don't think it would ever come off!

We were going to shoot a few trial dance photos at another location but the flowers were in bloom and just too beautiful to pass up. The light seemed as if it were illuminating each flower individually and it made the colors as vibrant in real life as they appear in the photos. Almost no enhancement in post, this is close to how they looked at the time.

We were going to take some ballet photos when we came across this beautiful field of wildflowers. The sun was still a bit too high for perfect light but we started shooting anyway. No fill at all, just all natural light.

The sun had just gone behind some clouds or trees and the light turned from warm and golden to having a strong blue cast. I kept a bit of that just as a reminder of the feeling of being there.

Hi guys,

Would like to ask some noob questions here so please bear with me.

My daughter is growing up real fast and I would like to Capture portraits and moments that are all too fleeting. I currently using a 1D4 and have no immediate intention to change to a Ff camera.

Looking at the magical pictures here I have 3 options:-

1. Sell my 50L and 300L is mk1 for the 200 f2
2. Buy the 135L
3. Use the 300 for portraits

I would like to hazard a guess that the 200 f2 would be the best but charts and dxo stuff aside, how discernible is it in the real world?

Thank you for helping this excited new father!

P.s stalking this thread is not helping my resolve

If you look at comparisons of the 200/2 and the 70-200/2.8 IS II @ 200mm the difference is there but very, very minimal.

I would think that the fast versatility and prime-like quality of the 70-200 f2.8L IS II would exceed the slight edge in bokeh and make a fantastic choice for energetic kids and portraits. Also a hell of a lot cheaper and much smaller.

Edit: I don't think selling off multiple focal lengths to buy one prime is a good idea unless you have redundancy at those focal lengths.
