Received my 5D3 and 35 1.4 2 from lensrentals yesterday. I did the MFA - it was off only a tad. It was spot on with my 70-200 and the 35mm I received seemed to be back-focusing by maybe an inch or so at close range, but at far range it was front-focusing a bit, so I just left it at zero and played around with it around the house for a bit.
Holy cow. You guys were right. Renting this setup was a mistake. I want it! Bokeh is beautiful and totally hides my messy house. ISO 3200 is really clean... I won't exceed that on my 70D because it just looks terrible beyond about 800 or so (and very noticeable way before that). This lets me add a lot more sharpening and avoid noise reduction which I don't really like. The narrow DOF is fun to isolate and add some depth to the images.
Here's a few quick snaps from last night. No judging, I'm just a hobbyist, haha. Ok fine, C&C welcome
Trying a few shots with the fam tonight and tomorrow afternoon. I'll let you know how it goes. It's crazy cold here all of a sudden so there will be some outdoors and some indoors.
