pretty impressive what that cam can do...for portrait work, that really seems to nail it...shutter sounds better too...maybe Christmas bonus will be good this year...cute models too...but Jason is kinda odd...I would have taken that leather jacket off...to hear it the whole time made the audio hard to listen to...

I think Jason would rather die than take his leather jacket, fedora, or sunglasses off. Yes he's very weird, and when I first watched his Youtube videos I got a major creeper vibe from him. I don't get that vibe quite as much now (still comes up sometimes, but now it's more of a huge ego vibe). I thought it was weird so many companies had latched on to him, but after seeing how beginner photographers bow down to him constantly in his facebook group, and will buy whatever Jason is selling no questions asked, it makes more sense now.

Here are two from the Houston Astros World Series Championship parade a little over a week ago. I don't think I already posted these, but if I did feel free to publicly shame me.

if there's no urgent need. I would wait for the A7III. you're right maybe it's just around the corner.

I don't have any critical projects coming up

Jarvis Creative Studios wrote in post #18496084 (external link)
I may be in the minority, but I don't see them releasing an a7iii. I think they would have done it before the riii. I don't think they could do it without either infringing too much on the a9, or frustrating their users (similar to Canon) by significantly cutting the tech to lower the price.

This is the downside of Sony, because in the past they had 3 different cameras running on the same platform, but I see them going to a more traditional structure now and in the future. In the past the a7 series was their speed / do all camera, the a7R series was a high MP specialty camera, and the a7S series was a video camera with still capabilities. Then the a7Rii came out, it became Sony's do all camera (with a very high MP count) and kind of made the a7ii irrelevant since in the past the a7 series had been the system with good autofocus and faster fps, but the a7Rii matched or beat the a7ii in all these areas.

I now see the lineup as: A7Riii (and all subsequent 7R cameras) as the do all cameras. High MP is just the way things are now. Nikon's do all camera is the 46MP D850. Canon hasn't quite caught up in the MP, but they're always a little slower to the party. The A9 series is now a specialty speed camera, and has taken the place of the a7 series in Sony's lineup.

I do believe there will be an a7Siii, because that is a whole different type of camera than the other two.

I guess I could see Sony releasing a "beginner grade" full frame camera, similar to how Canon did with the 6D, but I don't think they would call it an a7. Maybe an a3 lol? But even then it would be hard to do that and make people happy. I don't think anyone was happy with the spec sheet of the 6Dii when it was released.

I was kind of thinking this might be a possibility as well. If they were to release a a7iii that had upgrades significantly better than the a7ii I think it would take sales away from their a7ii. As much as Id really love to own the a7Riii i think the more logical thing for me to do would be to either wait for a used one to come around (by then maybe an a7iii would be out) or take that extra thousand and put it into some new glass

After copious amounts of vodka I took the drone up.
We're in the city this week and I decided to practice the drone and getting a 'small world'. The backyard
was relatively safe this time of morning.
Not a Sony shot but I have no one else to share with.
Do you mind? I know Vinz won't ;)

So 46 shots, then into Microsoft ICE for the stitch and then into PScc for the processing to make a small world.
Someday I'll get to a location that makes this worth the effort.

If you look almost in the center of the frame you'll see the top of a greenhouse, I'm in the red jacket sitting
up and to the right about 15 feet. The drone is approx 150 feet up.

I'd like to see an overhead shot of your 'bird sanctuary' some day. You know, the place where you lure the birds in to photograph. I don't have the room but would love to see your setup.

I don’t like him. Lots of yelling, over praising gears and his ahots, he don’t say please to the models. I was just their to see how the canon lenses works on eye af-c.

I think the A9 will stay as competitor to the 1DX and Nikon D series. No high mp as it sacrifices speeds.

Yep, no a9r until there is a 1DXr or D5r
The A7siii will probably here between Feb and Apr.
If Sony is smart from now until end of next summer they'll
be cranking out long FE glass and an FE 135 to fill in that gap.

Lol personally I think it will look exactly like the a7riii. I don't think there will ever be an a9r or a9s. What could they add into an a9r that's not in the a7riii? 80mp? The market for that camera would be unbelievably small. 50mp and 15fps? The tech isn't there.

I don't think there will be an a9s because the A9 can do everything the a7sii can do in video minus log. The a7siii will be out soon, and what would they add into an a9s that won't be in the a7siii? I don't see the 7siii even having that much more than the II. Probably s log 3, 4k 60fps, and the HDR mode of the a7riii. Besides the normal af and iso improvement of course.

I think the A9 will be a standalone specialty camera from here on out, and probably won't see refreshes except for every 3-4 years or so.

I've had the Osmo Mobile for a while, but sold it in favor of Sony FDR-X3000. Although I liked the footage from iPhone 6 plus (when taken during daytime), it was just an extra step to connect the phone to the gimbal.. and having too much accessories (extra battery, connectors, tripod, etc..) required another carrying case to have with me. It was good for what it was supposed to do but I just didn't like the hassle of having too much stuff with me. And speaking of simpleness, I really like the FDR-X3000. It is very similar to GoPro and you just don't need to mess with it much.

Now that I have the iPhone X with its massive storage and 4K recording capabilities... I'm not sure where I'm going next yet.. lol

After evaluating the trade in and selling options for my old IPhone SE 64Gb and seeing it’ll get me like $120 if that, I’m just going to keep that and permanently leave it on my Osmo. I think it’ll be easy enough to operate to give to my wife to take pictures. Having two buttons, one for video and one for stills can’t be the overwhelming for my wife, can it? :p

Thats exactly what I think 80mp or more even

edit: I think that sony does not see cameras as a 3-4 year cycle like Nikanon.... I think they see them like the cel phone market.... upgrade small but significant every year and keep turning the top end of the market share they have.
