I sold both of mine to get 2 6D's. Now I really want to get another 5Dc specifically for outdoor portrait work...the colors are so much better on the 5D.

I've been eyeballing the 6D recently - somehow I found $1k to burn (something like that).... I know there's no reason for me to do it, so I'm really trying not to pay attention to them. I'm also being called by the 50L as it's roughly the same price, which would really be all the lenses I need [want]. Then again I did find a local guy that specializes in 120 cameras. I recently played with a Mamiya RZ67 with a waist-level finder and a 90mm lens, and that is definitely on my list.

I should probably just shoot what I already have, lol.

The thing that really stands out to me about the 6d before I hit the submit button here, is the 1/4k max shutter. I have a habit of shooting everything wide open and I see 1/8000 on my 5d more times than I care to admit.
I never sell old gear so I wouldn't get rid of the 5d, but was that an issue at all?

I picked up a pristine 5Dc a few months ago.... well, 8 or so months. Anyway, I just bought a used 6Dc but I can't seem to force myself to sell the 5Dc even though I seldom use it.

I recently sold a 5Dc this year, but only because I had two and I was keeping one. I don't think I can get enough for this one even with a grip and stuff to make it really worth while. And despite having more modern cameras along with it, I still just enjoy the look of the 5Dc's files. I sold my 1Ds II because I liked the 5Dc's files better (and ISO was better). I would stick with the 5Dc for a long time, and will, as long as it works. My only wish would be if it were possible to have an inexpensive full frame like the 5Dc with its color and ISO and, and be mirrorless with a near silent shutter, but it doesn't exist. It will be sad when they're truly rare and hard to come by anymore and are a 20+ year old camera. Hopefully this 5Dc I'm still using lasts a few more years.

I mean, where else are you going to find a digital full frame camera with modern everything for $300 or less? There is only one. And it still cranks out great modern data to work with that looks great.

Very best,

Sold both my 5D classics a few years back and regretted it. Bought a mint one a couple of years ago and will keep this camera body until it dies on me! :-)

Hehe, 5D Classic will never die out.
I find it very funny because it is a camera you can compete the market with. I am even sure you can print a billboard from it - applying highpass should fix the sharpness a bit - however, billboards are often seen from a big distance so even for this it should be sufficient :-D

I really love it. It is with me 3 years and it makes a great companion. On the other hand it fails me sometimes when there is a lower light. I often shoot with f/2.2-2.8 (50STM) and sometimes it catches a bad focus and I have a tie sharp instead of the face :-D

I tell people how it is old, what year is it from, and they go wow. So Old?... No it is not old, it is a device you have to know how to use it.

I have for the local State Farm Insurance agent in town. He used it in all of his ads.

I shoot wide open (usually f2.2) a lot and I do hit the limit from time to time, but it's not as big of an issue as you might think. If you have a lot of f1.4 glass, that may be a different story. I love some of the features of the 6D - expanded ISO range over the 5D and Auto ISO where you can dial in a minimum shutter - both are extremely helpful for the low light event work that I do so often. The 5D used to make me nervous in some spots where flash isn't an option.

Outdoors, the color on the 6D is ok, but not great. It seems to render magenta really poorly and the Auto WB isn't great. I usually have to do a lot of post work where the 5D was great right out of the box.

Since I usually do my portrait sessions with 2 bodies and 2 lenses, I would love to have 2 5D's and have an outdoor kit with better color and an indoor kit with the 6D's. Probably unnecessary, but it would be nice.
