Saturday nighy should be clear, hopefully!

I would not complain about epic sunsets and sunrises, would be happy with that!

Nothing but natural light!

Sunrises can be epic at Joshua Tree to be sure. Here's one I took some time ago. For this one, I was facing away from the rising sun.

I sure hope it is that way out in the desert...a guy on FB that is local there has been shooting...but his images are way over the top with their editing, so I have no idea what it "really" looked like...

and TBH...I don't care...its time out, dedicated to photography and time with great friends...its a win no matter what.

I'm positive it will be. I see nothing but red.

https://sunsetwx.com/view/?id=2 (external link) shows those conditions all the way well into nevada.

sunset wont be as good tonight, but sunrise tomorrow shows that it's even better than today.

unfortunately, high tide, so tidepools out of the equation. Sunday, there's a chance for low tide sunsets, so I'll likely take my chances then. Will probably do a hike in PV if I get a chance. Low tide + southern direction sunsets = coves are ready for some great shooting.

Thanks to David Arbo for making us aware of this mill.
It was a zoo there though, so many people waiting in line to get 'the' shot. Hard part was waiting and waiting
for people to get out of the shot. Still a neat place-

Best seen on the Flickr page for the click zoom in :)

Brilliant shot Gene

Thanks Eddie. That was taken with my Canon 1Ds MkII back in January of 2012. It was a 7 exposure bracketed sequence.

The other night, my wife made some roasted pork belly, which didnt turn out so well, so she challenged me to make it better. Took her challenge and beat her at her own game :-)

Thanks. So no image file transfer?

Update, playmemories app will transfer RAW files too, I had it set to not do that, but just adjusted that.
Edited the RAW file in LRCC...next stop...LAX.

Do any of you edit in LR or PS with a white background? I think I'm going to start doing that because I've noticed some of my images lack contrast. I believe it's because I have a darker background and therefore my eyes get tricked into perceiving contrast. My last image that removed since it wasn't complete was the most recent example. Looked great on my desktop in LR but was flat here on POTN with the white background.

I use either light or medium grey, depending on the image. One thing I do before closing out an image is to open a levels adjustment layer, pull the highlight side in (at least to the edge of the histogram, sometimes more), then pull the shadows in to around 2 or three, then move the midtones to around 97-95. Then I'll turn it on and off to see if I like it.

I use dark grey myself
