Do any of you edit in LR or PS with a white background? I think I'm going to start doing that because I've noticed some of my images lack contrast. I believe it's because I have a darker background and therefore my eyes get tricked into perceiving contrast. My last image that removed since it wasn't complete was the most recent example. Looked great on my desktop in LR but was flat here on POTN with the white background.
I use either light or medium grey, depending on the image. One thing I do before closing out an image is to open a levels adjustment layer, pull the highlight side in (at least to the edge of the histogram, sometimes more), then pull the shadows in to around 2 or three, then move the midtones to around 97-95. Then I'll turn it on and off to see if I like it.
