Luminar 2018 started preorders today

Thank you for the link. I noticed that they are providing a 50% discount for service with the military, law enforcement, EMS. This is nice and a game changer. They include Aurora HD for Mac. I'm a Windows user so Aurora wouldn't work. I wonder if Luminar has to be Mac for the discount. I sent them an email anyway.

I got an email notification yesterday morning. It's ordered and I am ready to dump LR as soon as it is released.

Luminar 2018 will ship on the 16th. Previous owners got at $10 discount on the preorder and will get their copy on the 15th.

I've been using Photoshop Elements since, well, a really long time. It does what I need it to do, so I've never really looked at anything else.

I got an e-mail from Canon Rumors regarding Luminar, and was wondering what the benefits of it would be over what I'm currently using...

got my copy yesterday from my preorder. and it was uninstalled about as fast as I installed it on my Windows PC. Slow, nothing great about it, and layout is crappy having to add the tools in everytime you load an image, they dont just stay populated as one would kinda expect since you will be using them everytime.

I downloaded to both my Mac and my PC. I found on the PC used as a plugin from Lightroom is a disaster as stated. Using it as a standalone it works quite well, but is not as robust as the Mac version.

On my Mac matched with ACDSee as a DAM a simple right click and the "Open With" option opens the drawing in Luminar and simply makes ADOBE look sick. I have found my Adobe alternative! It is GREAT!!

As for the layout you simply need to think a bit differently. Luminar is set on Presets with adjustable filters in each preset. So I simply created myself a new preset with the filters I prefer to use the most. Then I simply open any new photo in that preset and my filters are all ready to go. To me this system just puts Adobe in the last century - Adobe needs to catch up to the new technology (IMHO).

then they optimized this software horribly if there are so many different variables. My CPU has alot of cores but not a crazy clock speed. So it seems like it doesnt take advantage of extra cores because on my PC it ran like total garbage and slow as crap.

Seems to be somewhat computer dependent. Running it standalone on a Windows 10 PC here and it runs great. Files open fast and no issues at all.
