I dont like the NP-FW50 (sony, never tried other brand) because they dont hold a charge well. it would be 100% charged and after leaving it for some weeks the charge goes down to say 80% being stored.

Do you know if the NP-FZ100 is the same or it holds well?

Turn the airplane mode on in camera and this will stop a lot of the drain.

I’m sure they debunked that early on when a7rii came out and showed it didn’t have any effect on battery drain. I’d have to search for the thread but I seem to remember reading that

Think im going to keep my Batis 85. I have had it listed on ebay for a couple of weeks and its not shifted. The plan was to sell it and buy the FE85 for the smaller size and lighter weight. I just checked there and realised its the same diameter and only slightly longer than the FE85. Its also only 100g heavier but has better CA control and has stabilization. I also have a perfect copy. The other thing I realised was that after selling, taking the hit on the B85, paying ebay and paypal fees and then buying the FE85 I would only have £100 back in my pocket. Seems pointless now that I have analysed it more. I thought I had purchased the batis for less than what I had.

Good to hear Eddie. I made a mistake in selling my Batis 85mm, quickly regretted it and now have another being shipped to me right now. Was going to get the FE 85mm, but I just like the results I got with the Batis too much to go a different way.

Fortunately, thanks to the FM buy/sell forum, the cost of selling, regretting, and re-buying the Batis didn’t turn out to be very much.

Also very interesting stats on your FE 55mm usage. I was going to sell mine since the focal length doesn’t make sense having between the FE 35mm 1.4 ZA (coming today!) and Batis 85mm, but it has such a terrific rendering and it’s enjoyable to use being so small and light. Affection for the 55mm may force me to sacrifice the CV 65mm, which I continue having intermittent struggles with. Got to sell either 55mm or 65mm this month - can’t keep both.

Good to hear another 35 1.4 is coming your way! Tough choice between the 55 and 65 though

The batis pairs well with the FE 35 in terms of rendering. Sometimes when swapping between the 85GM and FE34 in a shoot I find that the difference in rendering is hard to reconcile.

Well how about that: my FE 35mm 1.4 ZA just came and the sun started shining. :)

Sun stopped shining as soon as I unboxed, but first looks at the lens has me very pleased. I took a chance and bought the FE 35mm 1.4 on the FM buy/sell, and this initially seems like a good copy. I bought this lens because I wanted a 35mm that was fast (1.4) and decently sharp at 1.4 and has a bit of 3d pop to it. A first glance the lens appears to deliver on all that.

im a fan of that kind of design. i loved the sigma 35 art and this lens help solve that issue and better if I was to have a 35 1.4 again.

Turn the airplane mode on in camera and this will stop a lot of the drain.

i do have that on since I dont use wifi. Leaving the battery in bag or storage outside of the camera also gets drained. i didn't have that problem with the dslr batteries so this was bugging me. recharged and all is well so it's not a huge problem. im hoping the new battery won't have that issue.

but thanks for your feedback :)

i just love the 55 1.8. it's nice, has nice renderings, no-little ca. light. do you still have your otus?

for me the hard part is GM versus zeiss. zeiss has nice colors and renderings but GM's are sharper but heavier and i find them on the warm side when it comes to colors.
