Was taking photos for my future SIL, I really like a smallish 24-70 f2.8, why cant anyone build something like this 28-75 f2.8 in modern variation?

the size is really nifty, even when adapted. SOOC snaps have enough pop to them for most web stuff.

It was challenging and fun to try and simulate the lighting on my sig to match the lighting on the word "California" on the bottle label.

I used one levels adjustment layer to darken the sig and then mask out the left side and another levels adjustment layer to lighten the sig and then masked out the right side. I also used a bevel/emboss effect on the type in an attempt to match the original on the bottle.

Not perfect by any means but I don't think it looks too bad.

Yeah really cool part of town. They've done a good job redeveloping the areas around the buffalo bayou on the outskirts of downtown. Best part is that these spots are relatively unknown by photogs in the area....It's never crowded with photogs during the golden hour like places hermann park and what not.

I don’t own the Otus, or any DSLR lens any more. Just got tired of the extra weight. Even when lenses are similar weight, they automatically get 1/4 pound heavier when factoring in the adapter.

That said it sure was great having the Otus while I did...best lens I’ll ever touch. The FE 55mm 1.8 is a decent replacement and the diminutive size makes it a joy to use.

oh boy. im sure it was hard to let go. you kept debating and having thoughts. a pleasure to own indeed, now you can move on :P two lens I wanted to own realistically was the ef 70-200 II and the distagon 21. never happened but that's ok, can't always have everything heheh

No pano on this one. I found a great spot from a nearby parking garage. I blended in several shots to remove cars and people.

These vertical panos are turning your standard lens into a shift lens...very impressive. Are you still very pleased with your FLM head and tripod? Recommend I should buy one?

Yep, that's correct about turning my wide angle zoom or primes into a shift lens. I do sacrifice just the tiniest bit of sharpness because PS still has to do its thing to align the images; however, it's hardly noticeable at all. Yes I am still quite pleased with my FLM ballhead. Yes I would recommend it! I do have to make sure to crank down the tilt knob to secure everything but the ballhead is very well made. The tension control takes some time to get used to I'll admit. The FLM ballhead with tilt lock works for 2 or 3 shot panos. I have tried it with 12mm up to 24mm. I imagine it would work at 35mm too. I have only had maybe 2 panos where the last step (auto-blend layers) resulted in a blending issue but typically everything stitches well. There are some limitations to be aware. You can't be right up next to the building and pan up to get your 2nd and 3rd shots. PS will auto-align the layers but this will likely result in some difficult to correct perspectives (ie top flares out more than the bottom). That's where a true tilt-shift lens is the right tool but even then, you may be shifting the lens at its max if it's a tall building.
