The FE 12-24 is just proof that Canon and Nikon could have but didn't. When we think about the last slew of FE lenses they are all home runs. Jury still out on the 24-105 and I realize it is a compromise from the get-go with that big of a range but my gut says Sony will again deliver the goods.

I'm hoping it gets high marks so that the 24-70 f2.8 is pressured to go down :-P

Sony made things really painful for us with two incredible wide zooms. Big pluses for each one.

Every now and then I get tempted to get a FE 12-24mm, but I feel good with just CV 12 and Loxia 21mm, which are both pretty freaking great imo.

although I dont have the exact FL, the feeling of FL being too far apart started to get to me. Heck, just shooting 10mm vs 14mm, only 4mm felt MASSIVE, I started to miss the FL in between. The size is bulky, but manageable. Having the zoom factor really came handy at the tidepools, many crevices that I want to immerse myself into, without having to test or figure out FL in advance, simply setup the tripod and zoom ;-)a

Another lens that I thoroughly enjoyed..... zeiss 35-70, which is in a slightly higher league compared to the G lens. Keeps things simple, especially in the fairly dangerous terrain.

Update, playmemories app will transfer RAW files too, I had it set to not do that, but just adjusted that.
Edited the RAW file in LRCC...next stop...LAX.

really great work. Carlo have you tried the "Camera Portrait" on Camera Calibration in Lightroom? It looks good to me. a bit saturated but you can always tone it down.

I did not do anything on this shot on colors. It looks like their real colors. I used an expodisc on this though.

For some reason, it appears like there is a lot of yellow/green tint in the image to me Vinz. Here's a quick adjustment where, using a curves adjustment layer, I lowered the yellow and increased the blue channels. I also added a hue/saturation adjustment layer and in luminosity blend mode, darkened the yellows to make the grass appear greener. I lowered the vibrance a bit and bumped up the black/white points using a levels adjustment layer as well.

Yes, it's the contax. This is my 3rd or 4th outing by the tidepools in 2 months, and I'm really appreciating the smaller sized gear with no lens changes on scene. Some very sketchy moment, even when I use my tripod as a walking stick. Algae covered rocks, lower visibility at sunset, and unpredictable waves, can turn into a bad situation. Also conditions to die for :-P

one of my later shots, I was ready for the hike back up before it gets really dark, there was a nice burn going on. 35-70 @70

First edit from JTNP...Sunrise Friday was the best of the bunch, and the one we were late for...3 hours sleep after 23 hours awake does that...but I managed to capture the last fleeting seconds of it...

I use camera portrait as the starting point for all edits of people followed by WB tweak. For all other shots I change the profile to one of the Sony ones as the edit first step

I reworked this one that I shared a few days ago. I reduced the exposure, reworked the colors, and increased the contrast.

Thanks Gene. I now realized you're right but I think you took out too much yellow. now they look nothing but magenta'ish. at least to my eyes and monitor. and yes it's calibrated.
