This thing is a blast. :) My orbital beast. 5 main engines, 4 huge jets for a bit of extra umph, 3 stages and it gets you into solar orbit.

I took my car in for an oil change yesterday. When it was done, I started it to leave, and the check engine light was on. I showed it to them and they were a bit stumped. I'm not sure what code the computer showed, but they disassembled the air filter/air box apart and found it was full of broken chestnut shells. Somehow a critter has been getting into my garage and has been dining in my engine. Uncool.

It's the time of year when critters invade! We see it all the time at work. Having an air filter chewed on, or an air box stuffed full is minor compared to the damage that they are capable of inflicting. We've had the same truck in twice now for chewed wires. So far the tech has been able to just repair wires, but if any more damage happens, they're looking at replacing a $1300 wiring harness.

I have a Rogue in right now that has a critter problem. Found the blower motor full of insulation and carpet backing. Once I pulled all that stuff out, I found the critter had chewed a bunch of the fins. That means it's now out of balance and will vibrate till the bearings give out.

Here is one of my latest creations - Docked at a very weird angle - looks a bit rude really. This has science labs and a docked lander to get more science from Minmus. In career mode you have accept contracts to make money. To fulfill contracts you need parts (that you buy with money) and to get new part types you need to research which in turn needs science points and the cycle continues.

Here is a photo of my Astronaut on a landing of the Kerbin's Minmus with my tourist taxi (and no the landing wasn't faked ):

CRUD! I have the Rogue. My air filter was actually ok, just the airbox was full. I have never had this problem, and my car is garage kept. That looks nasty!

Mice like garages too.

If they keep getting in the air box, put some mothballs in there. They won't hurt the engine at all and it keeps the critters out.

This is from a 2012 Rogue. The blower motors are not fun to take out of them. Have to actually take the brake and gas pedals right out to get to the thing. The vehicle is immovable until I get the new motor.

The newer Rogues have a redesigned HVAC system, the motor is much easier to get to.

Found this in a friends Titan, in the air box. Later work discovered another nest under the centre console.

We had mice nest in the transit buses and die. We only know about them when they began to smell. My Rogue is a 2013. I'll put some mothballs in the airbox. That is where they seem to enjoy dining. Thanks for the tip!

No kidding yikes!! That car must not be driven often. I found a couple critters when I remodeled my kitchen, but the kitchen doesn't move much.

Even vehicles that move lots get critters. It's a warm house! And apparently wires are tasty.

Mel, with the mothball idea, that smell won't blow into the passenger compartment, right? I would hate to have my car smell like my Grandmothers closets.

Grampa left more of a lingering Old Spice sort of vibe. Grandma was all about the moth balls and things from Avon.

Nah, the engine air intake is completely separate from anything that comes into the cabin. Put them in with the air filter, just make sure you put them on the dirty side of the filter.
