This Male Bullfinch was drinking from the puddle. The female was hesitant, not once did she come down from the tree for a drink.

This was taken at Swell Wood in Somerset, A magical place.......So many different birds to be seen. The ancient oaks of Swell Wood are part of a continuous strip of woodland extending some 10 miles (15 km) along the ridge from Langport to the Blackdown Hills. It is owned by the RSPB. The only unfortunate thing is that this time of the year it is dark as the the canopy does not let much light through, but always a great place to visit.

Why ISO 5000 and F16 on a blue sky day?

Because the camera body with my 200-400 1.4 EXT locked up on me in the middle of shooting, so I grabbed my other body and it had my 600 on it along with my 1.4 extender. I was in such a rush (I was shooting Manual), that I didn't notice the ISO until too late. Fortunately, the 5D3 does just fine at 5000 and I lucked out. I was stopped in the middle of the road, by the way (dirt road), shooting through the sunroof of my truck, because I knew that if I got out to set up the shot, he would get spooked.

That is one trippy chicken. Wonderful shot, nicely framed, love the pastel shades.

Awesome shot, Duane. Is that a nesting box? The hole looks mighty symmetrical for one made by a bird. ;-)a
