Soooooo has anyone in here that came from shooting canon had thoughts about going back? Idk what has gotten into me lately, but i can't stop thinking about selling my sony gear and going back to a 5d3 and L glass. I'm not sure if it is the cost of quality native lenses that is bothering me all the sudden or what.

Sort of but not completely. Previously I had a 5D3 and decent glass, however I found that most of the time it never left the house as it was conspicuous. Now I have the A7Rii I love the IQ size and paired with primes it goes everywhere with me, however I have thought about going back partially. By that I mean I contemplated getting a 7Dii for wildlife and sport ( I still have my Sigma 120-300 Sport ), however with the new Riii I think I might be over that. With regards to the high cost, yes they are expensive, but once Sigma get their act together I think it will improve

Yea, i think my problem is a canon 70-200 2.8L IS is only like 1,000$ US on the higher end right now. If i want to go sony and get the 2.8 it is over double that, or you settle for the f4 version and still pay more than the L glass. If i want to run the L lens, then i need to adapt it and it is another cost factored in. I really have been happy with my a7ii, but i guess i am just not wowed by it anymore.

For those of you that pre-ordered the Sony a7rIII-

From Colby Brown, "32 TIPS & TRICKS FOR GETTING THE MOST OUT OF YOUR SONY A7R III" where he goes over settings in the new a7rIII, from the basics to new features like "Adjustable Spot Metering Point" where you can link the cameras spot meter to the adjustable focus point using the touchscreen.

I picked up the tamron 70-200VC for 500 ;-)a

it does satisfactory for a 70-200 f2.8. Due to the release and low price of the G2, the G1 has dropped in price considerably..... a win for everyone.

MBIV self flocked.

When adapting to EF lenses, avoid all other adapters, stick with metabones. AF is great, havent found a lens that couldnt AF with the adapter. I disabled the VC because IBIS was working better than VC. If you buy a canon lens, I'de stick with either the 70-200 F2.8 USM (~$700) or 70-200 F2.8 mark ii (~$1500). It'll work fine on the A7ii as well, I just had one of those cameras. I had to do a reset because one of my settings was messed up, but after that, everything was good.

Nope. Very happy with my Sony gear. I agree with you that Sony's top lenses are pricey but they are also quite excellent.

Yes but that big dirty (very updated for clean stacks) has employed thousands of Navajo and helped them in education and a future other than tourism. It is a catch 22 but I have friends that work there and may loose their jobs in 2019 because it may shut down.

Interesting of note too is that the coal comes from a place on the reservation about 50 miles away. How do they get the coal to the plant........ A dedicated electric train powered by the coal!!!!

Yes, I have had lots of similar thoughts. It took me a full three years to finally get rid of all my Canon-mount lenses and fully embrace the Sony ecosystem. Even now I look back on a lot of my Canon images with affection.

I’ll probably always be a Canon fan, and will understand anyone who switches back. But I’m also (mostly) content with my Sony gear. I can’t afford to switch back even if I wanted to.

Best of luck in your decisions - they can be really tough and can make you second-guess - but whatever you decide, I’ll respect it because it’s important for each of us to find the gear that suits us best.

If you switch back at least get a 5D IV (decent sensor) though.
