Yes. Same here. I mainly shoot 85/1.8 & 40/1.4 (MF) but want/need AF more now so the 35/2.8 has been getting much more use as a stop-gap....... I don't want the Distagon 35/1.4!!

My current go to set-up is a 35A/1.4 and FE85/1.8. I also have the 16-35/f4 but always seem to go for the 35A

Soooooo has anyone in here that came from shooting canon had thoughts about going back? Idk what has gotten into me lately, but i can't stop thinking about selling my sony gear and going back to a 5d3 and L glass. I'm not sure if it is the cost of quality native lenses that is bothering me all the sudden or what.

I really like and enjoy my Sony camera and the lenses that I have for it; however, I'm in no rush to give up my Canon or the glass. Different tools for different jobs. Sony is good but it doesn't currently have everything I need for sports photography at this moment so I pumped the brakes a little.

Too long. Make it something easy to remember. Whatever you come up with will always sound stupid at first

I very much prefer shooting with a dslr. I love the handling better. the feel, the more comfort layouts and ergonomics, quicker to access and change settings, and the build.

with that said, at the end, having a smaller and lighter setup wins for me. it's easier and less hassle to bring a smaller setup on a simple outing and on trips. although getting a 2.8 zoom/bigger lens kind of ruins the purpose of having a lighter and smaller set up, it is still lighter compared to a dslr because of the body differences. I would say if you only use big lens, stick with a dslr for better and more balanced handling, but MedicineMan on here might say something different :P

I keep wondering about getting a dslr and still do. I ended up getting a new mirrorless because it fits my needs better. the other option would have been the nikon d850. I do own a 70-200 2.8 for the sony now and I dont need it all the time so it's not a big bother to me. prior to that, i have the 35 2.8, 55 1.8 and 24-70 f4 which are small and light and I make it work for me. I only got the 70-200 recently for a friends wedding where he asked me to be the main shooter. i bought it instead of renting because I will need it again in the future and it's good for events/stage performance that I sometimes shoot for the joy of taking pictures.

If I was to get a dslr again, it will be because I have the money to have both systems. 1d body with a 70-200 2.8 ii has always been my dream combo. in reality, i want something small and light to bring along with me at ease. I'm able to take them with me more often than I did when I had a dslr setup. an example, with the dslr i only wanted to bring one lens. with mirrorless im able to bring 2-3 lens.

i stopped thinking about sony FE lens being more expensive. they have proven to be good lens and I will suck it up to buy the lens I need and want. one of the issue's with mirrorless was af speed but it seems to be on par with the a9 and a7r3.

Hope my thoughts give you some sort of help.

Ive seen a few members going back to dslr and is very happy with their decision.

Going back to Canon is like going back to the ex that you know will fulfill immediate needs to a certain point, but are forced to overlook obvious shortcomings.
.

My RX1RII rental that I'm going to be taking to Disney World is coming today, but I can't help but feel some GAS to something that is completely irrational which is the new Leica CL. Completely silly that it's $2,800 for a body, which is APS-C, doesn't have IBIS, doesn't have PDAF, doesn't have Eye AF, doesn't have a tilt screen, doesn't have sensor cleaning, doesn't have a USB port, doesn't have a mic input. But the design is just pulling at me, the corner EVF, the dual dials at the top like the NEX-7, the screen up top, the buttons to press as function buttons. Completely irrational and the lenses are $$$$ but can't help it...

I'm not sure if it is the cost of quality native lenses that is bothering me all the sudden or what.

I was a long time Canon shooter and have been fortunate to shoot a pretty extensive list of Canon digital bodies including a number of 1 series bodies. I purchased my first Sony body when the NEX7 was release primarily because I was curious about what all the hoopla was about at that time and given that Metabones had just release a Canon to Sony adapter it made it really easy to use my Canon glass on the Sony. My hope was always that Canon would introduce their own mirrorless sytem in the near future and I could always swing back to Canon if I ever wanted to.

I upgraded from the NEX7 to the A7R and then later to the A7R2 and I haven't looked back on Canon. I still have a large number of Canon mount lens, primarily Zeiss ZE mount lenses that I really like, but with the exception of the 24TSII and 85L !.2 V2 I've sold all my Canon L glass and have been replacing it with either native FE mount glass or with adapted M mount lenses.

I find the shooting experience with the Sony mirrorless system so much more enjoyable, the flexibility of the system is unbelieveable, I can easily mount a Leica or Zeiss M mount lens for pure portability as I can adapt a large Canon mount telephoto should I require iti. The ability to adapt just about any lens out there has brought another level of enjoyment to this hobby for me that I never experience when I was using Canon.
