Anyone think the 7d2 would make a good back up for a 1dx2?

Impressive stuff on this thread although I may have posted here before!

For sure. Add a grip and it's the 1DX little brother...

I use mine as a second camera / backup for the 5D4 and its fine. The only thing I would say against it is, the files do not look as good at higher ISOs. But that's to be expected of course. I personally think the 7DII is, dollar for dollar, canons best value camera for taking stills.

I feel that the 1DX2 has better IQ than 5D4 when shooting in low light.
If I don't need the 30MP resolution, would a 1DX2 be better than 5D4?

1 of the concern is that the silent shutter on 1DX2 seems louder than 5D4.... :p

there is nothing silent about the shutter on the 1dx2. :D

I've heard that, (pun intended). :) One of the nice advantages of the 7D Mark II, as I'm sure everyone on this thread knows, is how quiet quiet mode is on that camera. Not truly silent of course, but reasonably close to it.

Mark.... Had no idea you stutter. Lol. I regularly take advantage of the silent mode on the 7DII. It just feels like it's not adding any more shake to the camera.

Thank you. This was the first "real" outing with the new to me 7D2 for birding. Making a second pass through all the files and quickly starting to appreciate the servo focusing abilities as I find keeper after keeper after keeper.
