Thank's Sid, they are still showing now.....You tend to hear them before you see them, they have a "ping, ping" type sound. The best place to view them is Westhay Moor or RSPB Hamwall in Somerset I saw several last weekend at RSPB Greylake also. They move in small groups low down in the reeds but occasionally you will get 1 or 2 scouts pop up high in the reeds or branches to have a look around to get their bearings.
the photo below is a female, it does not have the black markings on it's face as the male does.
Yeah, I've been to Ham Wall a couple of times and they're regularly seen at Chew Valley lake where I haven't seen them too! Just one of those things.
