Thanks both, this Is why I really don’t want to give up the SR app. I simply couldn’t get such a clean shot in these conditions without it with any camera brand

Ive not managed to nail a good astro shot yet with this technique but ive tested the concept (clouds keep beating me plus not been out much for a while due to work/family). However one thing I do like doing is night photography when there is cloud cover and light pollution, especially long exposures. This is a single exposure using SR app (16 shots). Theres seriously zero noise and check the settings - ISO 1600 and 30 seconds!

Theres a larger version on my flickr that looks better than the POTN version **EXCUSE THE REPOST GUYS**

Hi, all. Looking for an answer to a seemingly perplexing question that's driving me crazy.

A7R3, my first mirrorless camera. Picture Quality: Astoundingly good.

Controls? Hmm. One thing I must change if it's possible is seeing the picture I just took in the EVF as I hold it to my eye to shoot.

I've gone through the menus slowly and carefully but see no way to stop that.

Is there?

Tab 2, page 7/9. Auto review on.

This used to be on by default but it wasn't with the a7riii. I personally turn it off because it gets annoying while shooting

OMG. Thank you very much.

Another question, please.

I have auto ISO set, with 125th as minimum shutter speed. I'm in aperture priority mode. My front control dial under the shutter button controls the aperture. When I scroll the rear control dial to change shutter speed, it will go slower and faster, but only up to 125th and then won't change. Why? Does that have anything to do with the auto iso setting? I threw that info in to help answer the question.

On the a9 that auto review on off is on my custom menu button, I like it sometimes but get annoyed by it other times. The MY MENU is.a great feature.

In av mode the camera selects your shutter speed based on your aperture and iso. If you are in av mode and have auto iso set the camera will lower to your minimum SS then raise iso to make up the rest. If you are changing the SS with the dial it must be allowing you to change the min speed on the fly up to your menu set value

That is fantastic.

When the core starts coming back again down here in Auckland, I'll be giving it a go for sure and will post the results for you.

I just watched a video from Ian Norman at Lonely Speck on shooting pano's and he shoots 4 shots per shot. 5 images across and 2 rows giving total 40 shots and then he blends and stitches them. Very clean too

I have a couple of glass Martini "toothpicks" and I've been trying to come up with an interesting way to display them. They are used to place olives in the Martini.

Here's one idea that highlights the glass 'olive' on the top.

Since this was a 20 second exposure, I used my Nissin i60A flash with a mini softbox attached and made three flashes handheld during the exposure to add some highlights.

^Super image Gene...it looks excellent viewed fullscreen on Flickr. Signature is even more brilliant than usual (if possible).

I just ordered a CV 15mm. Would love to have a 12-24mm, but just can’t convince myself to sell the CV 12mm. I like the way the CV lenses have a similar rendering to Loxia 21mm.

Now to sell my sweet little FE 55mm 1.8. I haven’t used it nearly enough, so hope not miss it too much. The recent purchase of the FE 35mm 1.4 triggered my willingness & desire to sell the 55mm and use the $$$ on something else. Been wanting that CV 15mm a long time now.
