Dec 11, 2017 07:59 | #8688 I have mixed feelings about the Sigma 135. On one hand, really sharp and nice contrasty rendering that is reminiscent of Zeiss.....OTOH, the OOF rendering can get really nasty when you have a lot of specular highlights in the background. The compressed FOV means that its really not an issue most of the time, but its rendering has all the good and bad characteristics of a typical Sigma lens. The pier is decorated this time of year, and I've always wanted a festive shot of the pier during sunset, never done it ever. I was headed to the beach, extra early, 1.5 hours early, little did I know, there was a free concert going on with fireworks afterwards. All of the sudden, a 5-10 minute drive turns into 45 minutes. I ended up backtracking since traffic was so bad on the way there, I went to familiar territory, and parked at a life guard training center I frequented as a teen, turns out that was like the closest I could get anyhow. It's a mile away, and I wasnt prepped to walk that much, I was in sandals! Tried getting a Lyft, but the driver bailed, and second driver was at the wrong spot! however, the developing sunset was epic, so I ran that mile, full camera gear and all (FE 12-24, CY 35-70, FDn 200, filters, tripod). Glad I kept it light, but ran into other problems while shooting. I'm most certain my FDn 200 adapted DOES NOT hit infinity! What a time to find out, it got close enough that stopping down would cover, but what a way to find out, while I'm running, changing out lenses for a shot..... anyhow, christmas lights, so much mist in the air that the photo is a little hazy, my lenses got sticky by the end of the night. I think the haze adds to the image here charlie, it certainly doesn’t detract from it. This is another absolute stunner Leica M11 | Leica Q2 | Sony α7RV

It's not even bad on the sigma I dont think. Yeah I can see this type of bokeh with the Zeiss APO 135 aswell I don't think the Sigma is any worse that the Zeiss The Song 85 1.4 GM isn't immuned to it either based on this example over on another site. https://www.dpreview.com/forums/thread/4043651 Sony A1, A7R2
