I have mixed feelings about the Sigma 135. On one hand, really sharp and nice contrasty rendering that is reminiscent of Zeiss.....OTOH, the OOF rendering can get really nasty when you have a lot of specular highlights in the background. The compressed FOV means that its really not an issue most of the time, but its rendering has all the good and bad characteristics of a typical Sigma lens.

Oof rendering looks beautiful - really beautiful - to my eyes. Overall the image appears flawless. You should mark it up with notes cause I don’t have the least clue what you’re talking about. :)

For this image, at least, I really like the many colored, pastel bokah 'footballs'.

the football could be worse, nothing is really GM level, you're just going to need to accept that :-P

as far as spamming goes, the reason I was at the pier was for the Christmas lights, similar to nadim's reasons on going out. The pier is decorated this time of year, and I've always wanted a festive shot of the pier during sunset, never done it ever. I was headed to the beach, extra early, 1.5 hours early, little did I know, there was a free concert going on with fireworks afterwards. All of the sudden, a 5-10 minute drive turns into 45 minutes. I ended up backtracking since traffic was so bad on the way there, I went to familiar territory, and parked at a life guard training center I frequented as a teen, turns out that was like the closest I could get anyhow. It's a mile away, and I wasnt prepped to walk that much, I was in sandals! Tried getting a Lyft, but the driver bailed, and second driver was at the wrong spot! however, the developing sunset was epic, so I ran that mile, full camera gear and all (FE 12-24, CY 35-70, FDn 200, filters, tripod). Glad I kept it light, but ran into other problems while shooting. I'm most certain my FDn 200 adapted DOES NOT hit infinity! What a time to find out, it got close enough that stopping down would cover, but what a way to find out, while I'm running, changing out lenses for a shot.....

anyhow, christmas lights, so much mist in the air that the photo is a little hazy, my lenses got sticky by the end of the night.

I think the haze adds to the image here charlie, it certainly doesn’t detract from it. This is another absolute stunner

it's normal for many lenses

85L, 50L, mitakon, nikon 105 E, 85A, 70-200 f2.8 of any kind, pretty much any large aperture lens. It's not even bad on the sigma I dont think.
