I was oringinally using the shutter to AF, however I have just switched to BBF again. The main benefit is the fast you can leave it in AFC and if you want to lock the AF just take your finger off the button. I have it set of the AEL button, the other setting on the lever is Eye AF, that way I can quickly switch between eye AF and normal at the flick of my thumb

C1 uses a catalog system just like LR. They didn’t in the past and it’s only gotten really stable in the last three releases.

For me, I prefer the handshake workflow that exists between LR and C1. Although C1 makes your images look better by default Mark Galer claims it just comes down to what each app uses as a default processing starting point and suggests how to easily modify LR’s defaults to be more C1 like. Also, I use a custom color calibration as my LR default, which gives me a more accurate image than “camera standard”.

I've seen this VID before David
However I moved to C1 after many years dissatisfaction with ACR's bland default RAW processing starting with Canon CR2's and now Sony ARW's.

If lots of folks dislike this default action it rather begs the question why Adobe (ACR as it surely affects PS users too) gives such a bland out of the gate starting point. [Note: folks immersed in such Adobe products no doubt already automate out of this bland position by import adjustments etc.]

Possibly the purist would argue that this is the experts' best starting position when working with RAWs to such experts, surely Importing into Capture One using a "Linear Response" Curve would be somewhat equivalent.

I just get curious when I note that Mark Galer (who is excellent by the way) is not just a Sony Ambassador but also an Adobe Ambassador too.
Jamie

speaking of capture one, a lot of the new features explained. The style opacity is real cool, as well as the masking

C1 is looking mighty nice. Anyone use uncompressed setting all the time?

Consider the source (adobe affiliate) and use whatever works best for you. My only point is you can change LR’s default starting point to suit your taste. I’m personally an LR user and also a big C1 fan.

Just assume that all the pages you missed were long discussions about prime lenses, buying, selling, buying again, testing, comparing, ad infinitum. Then you can feel relieved that you didn't have to encounter any G.A.S. triggers while you were away.

A shot from this mornings sunrise. I was getting frustrated because I couldn't settle on a compostion that I was happy with as the "peak pastel" moment rolled in, then I noticed how the waves criss crossed just off the point where I was set up.

Beautiful shots from you SB every time. This one really needs a gigantic corporate wall to hold the 10x15 foot print!
