Here's a 10 image stack using my FE 55 f1.8 lens mounted on extension tubes.

The pullback shot is below...

OK, distance to these eagles was 100 meters. A known distance at Conowingo to the rocky point on the island from where I was standing.
This, at 800mm, and even then a huge crop pushed the 'cropability' of the a9 to the limits, and truthfully maybe too much for any detail. But
my excuse for liking this one despite the detail is the story of what's going on. Socialism versus capitalism. I can't look at the shot and not think
of Ayn Rand and her philosophy of producers and looters ;)

Great macro Gene and that must be a seriously stout tripod...seems a lot of weight cantilevered out.
Curious if you moved the rig up or down while shooting.....remember the old adage that horse will eat
uphill but a mule eats uphill :)
As always thanks for the pullback.

extensive review of the 24-105G I saw on FM

http://www.terragalleria.com …ailed-comparative-review/ (external link)

I think it can be summarized as better than the 24-105 mk1 from canon at most focal lengths with fairly consistent results at all focal lengths (the canon varied a lot from FL to FL).

quite a bit better than the 24-70 f4 za at the wide end.

similar dimensions to the canon 24-105, but no adapter = 1" shorter. Lighter by at least 100g as well, so a good amount smaller in practice.

it does have a downfall of heavier distortion.

nice review, the lens will likely be extremely popular. competent, reasonable in size, great focal range. Havent had a gear lust flareup yet, so I think I'm OK for now :-P

Thanks Robert. Below is an image of my old "Husky" tripod I use for the rail. For the bottle cap, I only advanced the knob forward a little at a time and didn't adjust the elevation crank on the tripod.

I've almost always shot with zooms and my go to lens on the A6500 has been the Zeiss 16-70 f4. Well a month or so ago I picked up the FE 85 and really liked it but needed something wider so I got this from UPS today. After reading a lot of reviews, it comes pretty highly recommended especially for the price.

Haha! Man that is one serious tripod! Only one I can think of more stout is the surveyors models. Yep I can see weight applied was a non-issue.

I bought it years ago from the x-ray lab where I used to work. We had a 4 x 5 speed graphic mounted on it to take facial photos of our patients referred to us by the orthodontists. I bought the speed graphic camera too...along with film casettes and negative racks for the developer but sold all that a long time ago.
