I will have to dig into that...mostly for portable...

For home, I am lining up the parts to build a good audio setup at home that has a tube amp as the starting point...my buddy in SF has a killer setup in his studio, former DJ and lifelong musician...and I really love staying at his place and just chilling to music...he has the best AirBnB that is free for me when I come to town!

In 1966, while I was stationed aboard the USS Oriskany, the big thing in stereo was to buy each piece of a sound system as a separate component. For my system, I bought a Sansui receiver/amplifier, a Dual 1019 turntable, Teac reel to reel tape deck and a pair of Acoustic Research speakers. I bought my system in Yokosuka, Japan and at the Subic Bay Naval Base Exchange. We'd set our systems up in our operatories and record each other's newly bought LP's while working on our dental patients.

I think my dad had a receiver like that one...when I was a kid.

I'm gonna post a couple more from the meet this weekend.

So.....Swimming is not the most exciting sport to shoot. There are only 4 strokes. The easiest stroke to get compelling shots is the butterfly. And while I've seen lots of great shots of the other strokes, they don't typically lend themselves to exciting photographs. Freestyle is particularly difficult to come away with anything that I might look at more than once. I was happy with this one that I just kinda snapped cause I was somewhat close and at the right angle. Again, the a6500 nailed it without any issue. If this camera had a joystick for changing AF points it would make things SOOOOOOOO much easier! Regardless, I LOVE the tiny size of this camera and the results it produces.

All shots taken with the cheapo $200 E 50/1.8.

Sofia swimming freestyle.

Travis, I have a pretty simple headphone set-up. Fiio e18. It's a modest amp with a built in DAC but it makes quite a difference when driving bigger headphones. Be careful jumping down the audiophile rabbit-hole. Upgraditis (audio version of GAS) can be dangerous!

I remember someone talking about headphone amps, maybe it was Carlo...need to get one..I have a set of Master & Dynamic headphones coming for Christmas...stoked about getting them, been lusting after them for a long time...but want the amp too...

I use a portable"Balanced Amp / Dac" from Ray Samuels, the Intruder. its about half the size of a pack of cigarettes. You can use wall power or battery It works with smart phone or computer... Dont judge the size it rivals high end audio. There are many other selections of amps from Ray as well

Ray is a retired aeronautic engineer, and a genius when it comes to audio electronics.

Thanks Travis and Gene for the feedback on the Jenny Plane wide shot. That dark band on the right side above the windows is a shadow. I tried to minimize it but could not completely get rid of it. Here are my finished versions (hopefully :)
As always, the bigger version on Flickr of on FM look much better.

You can forgo tubes and buy a Nelson Pass amp, its solid state and rivals tube amps, and no additional purchase of replacing tubes.

Haha I’m thinking the same, I’ve got enough expense in my other hobbies, don’t need a new reason to spend money

I listen pretty much all day...and I used to agree with just buying cheap earbuds...then I spent a little and started down that rabbit hole...I don't want to fall in this one...just want to have a look.

96 3.2 second frames in Smooth Reflections. One of my favorites from the JTNP trip.

Had to edit the # of frames, I really wish that info would be embedded into the EXIF somewhere...or I need to write it down!

Had my physical a few weeks ago. 30% hearing loss, so good headphones would just be a waste of money.

I have some hearing loss in my right ear...too many concerts on the front row in college...but I can still appreciate good music and the difference between $5 ear buds and good headphones. My wife...not so much...but she approved the M&D purchase...they are not super high end, but they are pricey for my budget.
