Now that blows be away. Built a Saturn 1B kit from Estes when I was a kid.
Likewise, it was HUGE. My other favorite was a scifi looking one called the Andromeda. Not as heavy as the Saturn, but taller if I recollect. What fun we had!

I even cut up, bent and soldered coat hangers to make a gantry that looked like the real thing. Had to move it before the launch. I was so into the Apollo program. Image Editing OK

This is a vintage 1980's Estes Saturn V model 2001. They used a lot of my photos in their newsletter. Just getting my feet wet with model rocket photography. Still have lots to learn and experiment with, but gives me a good reason to buy the 100-400 MK II. ![]() ![]() So cool! I used to spend every penny of my allowance on Estes! Fave memory: Stuffing two d engines in an SR-71, watching it go up, then lateral over a group of tall fir trees on the horizon never to be seen again! OR: when I was too impatient to buy the stand, and "launched" one next to a road, thing goes up about 10', then lateral right into the back of a moving car https://chrismarkes.smugmug.com/

It's very cool -- over 3 feet tall and 6 inches in diameter. The stages come apart, too. 1900 pieces! Been a while since I snapped Legos together. I'd still like to go Wernher von Braun on it. Some were with the 100mmL Macro and the one with the schooling tang with the 17-40L. I have it housed in a Nauticam with a macro port and and a dome. I have an 8-15 inbound now which I am really excited to get to play with. I did some 4K video with it that I like quite a lot other than the scratch in the dome. I have that fixed now. This short video shows some footage with the 5d4 and some Gopro footage. https://youtu.be/NCyK2pEmIbI ![]() 6D, 60D, 100L, 24-105L, Sig 150-500, nifty 50, EF-S 60mm, Tam SP70-200 f/2.8 Di VC, Underwater gear T2i in a Watershot housing with Inon S2000 strobes.
