You've convinced me with this to pick up some film for mine- probably my favorite camera; and the motor drive made it perfect for me.

Film:rolleyes: What's Film?

I have a Ricoh 500 and a Minolta SR1 sitting in my closet right now. Bought 60 years ago in Japan when I was stationed there.

Hey Lou, we’re kind of telling off on our age here. :-) I have a Minolta SR7 model V sitting on my closet shelf. Bought it 52 years ago while stationed on a radar site detachment out of Okinawa.

Jeez. I was born in 57. That is awesome you still have em. I had a couple if Minolta X700's which where stolen. I then got a Maxum 7000 and that was my last DSLR. Got a 20D in 2005 and since helped make Canon rich :-)

Ahhh the good old days when I used to have to walk through 6 feet of shag carpet to change the TV station. You picked you a body with a 50mm lens and it lasted a lifetime. I wondered why Canon's flash zoom defaults to 50mm when you tilt or swivel the head. I figured they used the 50mm lens value which was the standard at one time. Of course I don't really know, just a guess.

Bought my first camera from the NAAFI (PX, MCX) in Lbya whilst on exercise in the desert in 69. It was a rollei and I got if for around 5 shillings (30cents) as Gadaafi had just overthrown King Idris and we were being pulled out fast so everything had to go. Stuck with that same camera for around 15years until I bought my first 35mm which is only now up for grabs...............an original Russki version of the 12SD.............."The Tank"

I didn't buy my first SLR until the mid 1970's and it was a Minolta SRT 101. I had (and still have in storage somewhere) a couple of Minolta XD11's.

Some people ask me if a crop sensor camera is sharp and croppable with telephotos, and especially with teleconverters. Here's an example, handheld, shot wide open, with 1.4x. To note, I did not scare the owl from its perch...crows made it move and it flew towards me because I was upwind. This was probably 50 meters away. Here's the original and the final crop. A bit overcropped maybe, but the detail in the feet and eyes was too good to not have shown off.

Got an amazing Christmas present today with my first ever snowy owl capture. These owls are uncommon in CO, nevermind close to the Denver metro area.
