Thanks for the link MM. It looks like there's a lot of good information there.

Not sure where to begin. Primarily a birder using Canon but bought my wife an A7 earlier this year and we're expanding the lens collection and adding a Sigma 150-600 C with M11. I would like to lighten my gear if possible. So much variety of configuration with Sony. I will be reading ALOT.

The white balance picker tool in capture one is awesome. An eye-dropper tool where you pick a grey area in the frame, and C1 automatically corrects the WB using the selected area as a baseline...like using a grey-card in post. It nails the kelvin and tint. Such a simple idea, but it makes one of the most onerous parts of post processing so much easier. It's a wonder adobe never thought of this before.

I've had a lot of those types of moments as I've learned to use C1.

I really need to learn off camera lighting in 2018...how to light a group in doors...getting correct color...just the whole nine...I have been opposed to anything but ambient light for so many years, that it is going to limit me...my shoot this past weekend had to be moved indoors, to a less than ideal place, with the worst backgrounds you can imagine, and bad overhead light...I tried using my flash for some fill in front of everyone...but those shots just looked bad...and I ended up spending a lot of time editing the ambient images...so one of my resolutions is to learn lighting...I know its gonna be rough, and I will fight it...but I gotta learn it.

get a copy of the book light: science and magic - that will cut your learning curve by A LOT!!! nothing beats practicing though so you do need to buy gear so you can play around.

I must be missing something. That sounds exactly like the WB eye-dropper tool in LR/ACR.

So the screwdrive in my Minolta 200 HS is at about 25% power, but the 2xTC still drives it (but slower than before). It has to get me through Spring Training and then I'll be ready to go another direction.

It is sad that this great piece of glass is on its way out, but that is part of the reason why it was a gamble buying the old workhorse two years ago. Not sure what lens to go to next, but I definitely have time to think about it.

Yeah, as David and Eddie mentioned the eye dropper in in LR. It's awesome. I find there's almost always a neutral grey somewhere in a photo to pick with the eye dropper. Also, I find that picking the whites of someone's eye often works quite well. That said, I really need to man up and learn C1!

It just sunk in... I've spent a lot of time in the thread "Show us your setup and the final result. There was one poster who floored me every time with his amazing work. I just realized it was Scatterbrained who's work I was mesmerized by.
Yeah, I'm a little slow sometimes!

Welcome Bill! If like many transitioners (is that a word), you'll shoot both systems for a while-maybe forever-or decide on one
that suits you. Many here in the Sony house know about weight and trying to shed a bit of it. Lots of great members here always
willing to help.

Happy New Year everyone. I just ordered the Sonnar 35mm 2.8 from Greentoe. Got a pretty good price. Not the most reputable retailer but Greentoe supposedly backs the purchase. I’m having a bit of trouble as I paid the invoice on PayPal but it is still not showing as paid on Greentoe. Hopefully I’m done with GAS. I also ordered the V3 Peak Design Capture as well as the Peak Design backpack 30L. And thanks to this thread specifically I ordered the Arsenal for Feb delivery. This thread has cost me a good 10k this year... Don’t tell my wife. ;)
