I am really fond of Nik filter's HDR, I lean toward the more natural finish.

Used the DUAL ISO option from Magiclantern, exported to SNS-HDR as a single image, Back to Lightroom to adjust W/B levels.
Does it count as HDR?

Beg forgiveness if this is deviating however I wonder if Affinity will do HDR from one RAW file or does it need multiple JPGs?

Thx,
Andrew

JMO but better to take base image, copy twice, change exposures to your +/- requirments then merge.
Russ

Russell.

There is no need to make virtual copies with virtual exposure adjustments from a single raw image - this produces no new data and adds unnecessary steps to your workflow. In AP you can configure the raw "Develop" persona to produce a 32bit per channel file as output. Then you can enter the Tone Mapping persona and have at it.

To configure the Develop persona to output 32 bit per channel output, click on the Assistant in the tool bar across the top of the application window - the Assistant icon looks like the torso of someone wearing a tuxedo. Then, in the dialog that appears, click the box in the lower left corner, labeled "Develop Assistant..." - here is where you can instruct AP which raw conversion engine to use, etc. You want to configure the "Raw output format" to "RGB (32 bit HDR)" and "Tone Curve" to "Take no action."

When you open a raw file it will appear in the Develop persona - you can make adjustments to WB, for example, but leave the tonal adjustments alone, unless you need to make tonal adjustments there for some reason. Develop the raw file - it will then open in the AP interface as usual, as a 32bit per channel HDR image. Then click on the Tone Mapping persona button and it will open with all of the Tone Mapping controls.

Remember to configure your color preferences in the Preferences dialog - you can configure both the RGB and 32bit RGB color spaces you want to use.

Have fun!

kirk

Photo from Stiga's gallery.

This one did not really need HDR but it helped to balance brightness in foreground and sky
