You're at The Butcher Social Club overlooking the Film Museum, looking north-west.

Either that, or at the ADAM Lookout. Hard to tell with the angle of the photo. But the white roof on the bottom left looks to be the Film Museum's corner.

Yes we were on the walk way outside Butchers' which is a cafe/bistro on the second most highest floor of what used to be the Shell building (Shell Amsterdam office and Laboratory) and is now called "Overhoeks"
The waterway is the "Noordzee Kanaal", the man made waterway linking the port of Amsterdam with the North Sea.The white spot you mentioned is not the Film Museum (which is much closer to the "Overhoeks" building)
but some new development of apartments - built where the ADSM (Amsterdam docking and ship building company) used to be. Some 55 years ago my wife and I got married less than 100 meters away from this spot.. :)

Over to you!

Looks like an exciting place to look at the city, no matter which one of those spots you were at.

Well, then, dang, I need to find an image that stumps people. Could be another day as it is past midnight here.
