Guys, how about showing your favorite image of 2017 and why it is? It would be nice to see I think. I’ll upload mine tonight. Out with family at the moment.

Picking a favorite image for this year was very difficult for me. In my second full year posting on the Sony board, I was no less in awe of the skilled and inspired shooters I was surrounded by. The list is too long to name names, but if you are reading this and you posted on this board 2017, there is a very good chance that I was floored by your work with Sony gear. No offense to the shooters using different brands reading this, there is no lack of talent on those forums. Just, to me, this Sony forum is such a supportive and creative group who pushes the best tech in the biz to the max.

As a guy who's photography blossomed because he had to supply pictures for his sports stories, photojournalism-style is probably my strong suit. I love going to Spring Training games with my father and watching ever facet of what is going on out on the field--and even up in the stands. In my mind, I like to capture as many moments on the field that could be put on a poster or on a baseball card--this image of Jose Reyes below was my best work, in that regard, for 2017. Capturing the label on the baseball was a bonus here, and my old a77ii peeling off 12 FPS during the sequence really helped.

I agree with Eddie in that it's very interesting to see what you folks have chosen as your favs for 2017. So many outstanding shots have been posted this year!

I by no means take my photography too seriously. Most of my shots are set up in about 2 seconds and are snapped at less than the ideal time of the day. Regardless, I live in a beautiful part of the country with lots of opportunity. I have a lot of favs from this year that I sit around a look at from time to time because, to me, they're just "eye candy". A lot of of my family trips to awesome places that I just LOVE to look at because of the memories. But from a landscape point of view I would prolly choose the one from this morning at Alice lake in the Sawtooth Wilderness area.

Although, I really like this one from the City of Rocks as well.

12 years ago I had hair

Lee, checked that site for a batis 85 price and they quoted £575 for a like new copy. I then checked eBay and they are selling for £700-£750 so even after 10% eBay fees and 3% PayPal fees you are better off selling on eBay if you can be bothered with the hassle

:eek: I'm surprised. They gave me a good price on my Canon EF85 & EF28 && they offered me about £100 more than I was expecting for my Leica 90/2.8 that I wanted to shift!!

Maybe a private sale is the way forward then.

I have a plan this year - well, WE including the other half. The kids aren't going to have much choice in the matter

I spent most of last year (aside from the family holiday) just photographing Cars & Coffee type meets that we attended. Which is great - We all love the drive out in the old Escort 8-) and the social side of it is awesome. I won't be doing less of that. We actually managed a local drive today in it, the first time it's seen daylight since November!!

But this morning I managed to talk the girlfriend into going for a nice walk/hike up/around some local hills. My eventual plan is to work my way through some of the closer ones in Wales (The Brecons) She loved it!! And she managed it well too so I was well chuffed :-D

I don't ever make new year resolutions. But this year, we are definitely getting out & about a lot more & the more height that's involved the better

This then leads me onto that very rare word for me - GAS!!

I've a used FE85 on the way to me. Fingers crossed it replaces the Batis (no reason it shouldn't on paper)
Sell the Batis which will hopefully free up a few ££ to pick up the FE 24-70OSS £210ish (which I think is the A7 kit lens...?) as that should do enough for when out climbing these hills/mountains.
Then wait for this Sigma FE35 ........ Then I can sell the FE35/2.8 probably & also the Voigtlander CV40 too. I might also part company with a lot of my 35mm analogue stuff too as it just doesn't get used.

Love looking through your 'trip' photos :)

Photos don't have to be technically correct or perfect to be awesome as we know 8-)

Nice idea, ill start however im going to have to post 2 images (Sorry!)

EDIT - Looking for images made me realise how little I shot in 2017. Need to sort that in 2018!

First image is this one of Loch Lomond. I love how the SR app made the water look like glass and made the sky look like an ND long exposure. I also love the way the light pollution makes it look like a sunset almost. My only regret is that I didnt take a second shot slightly to the right to allow me to stitch a pano/change the aspect

Second shot was this one when I ticked off a bucket list item. Again at Loch Lomond. Second time I had photographed the aurora but first time I could see it with my naked eye

Those shots are just fantastic. Love them both :)

A7sII & A7rII both with battery grips, one with 100-400gm and the other with Sig 150-600 using a canon converter to sony. I never knew they made one.
Each also had 1.4 tc

Ok, lets dissect what was used to make this, its on a mono pod with feet

It is one of my best photos I've taken.... and it was 20 minutes of amazing picture taking with one of my best buds. After running around this area for the 20 minutes of amazing light we both just met and bro hugged it out commenting how amazing it was.

you editing gurus...need some advice...I have been fiddling with this image, the indoor gym lighting is awful...really awful...but its my kid, making the game winning basket in OT...so I really want to figure out how to fix it...any suggestions?

I have already reduced the green channel, and that helped a lot, but there is a huge color gradient change on the divider screen that I can't figure out how to fix...
