Well, .... I've allready checked for back or frontfocus and the lens doesn't need any correction and works great on other targets.
I have tested 3 lenses Canon 55-250 IS STM, Tamron 70-200/2.8 VC and Sigma 100-400 all of them have trouble to focus on same targets as the examples in the picture.

Maybe it's the angle of light, at this time of the year the sun is not far from the horizon in the middle of the day. Better result in summertime when the sun comes more from above (better contrast).

Sony A7 III, Sigma MC-11,
Sigma 100-400 C, Tamron SP70-200/2.8 Di VC USD

All,

Pretty sure this isn't the best place to discuss this, so if anyone knows the proper forum, please let me know. Having said that......

Wanted to see if anyone in the forum has travelled from the USA to Russia with their camera gear.

I'm scheduled to go on a work trip from the US, to both Amsterdam, and St. Petersburg Russia. I've been to Amsterdam 2x already, and I know it will not be a problem taking my gear, and is an absolutely beautiful city. My concern is traveling to Russia. Some departments in our company will not let you take the laptop that you work on everyday - you have to get a "clean" loaner, and save all your work in approved cloud storage areas. The concern is the Russian government confiscating your work laptop & the company losing sensitive data (even though the hard drive is encrypted).

Should I be concerned about coming back home with all my camera gear that I take with me as a carry-on item? I think St. Petersburg would be a wonderful photo opportunity, and really want to take my gear.

Thank you,

Living as I do 12 degrees from the equator, I can't imagine how cold it must be to make water do that.

Nice - A snowy was sighted and verified by biologist in central SC yesterday. Photographed perched on a luggage rack of a SUV. I've never seen one or heard of a sighting. Biologist said it was an adolescent female and that it could have been the cold weather or lack of food that drove it down here.

And Pondrader and others living where -40 is frequent. Even more unimaginable! In Darwin it never gets colder than +16C and never hotter than 37C.

Terrycanon are you shooting with spot metering? Those photos are awfully dark, don't know if that's the look you were going for but I had the same results using spot metering on birds and other wildlife since the spot I chose tended to be lighter than the rest of the photo.
