Main thing about the food photos is that it should be tempting from the picture itself :p, isnt it ?

Not sure what post you have replied to specifically but you know, sometimes it's not possible to take decent shots when you are the cook :) That's my case most of the time! :)

Then why take the shot? - or more specifically why share the shot on a Photography website when you have identified that it isn't a good photo? Why not just enjoy being the cook and eating the food?

Dan, you've made a valid point and my take on this particular thread is to show the food I cook, whether the shot is good or not just for the sake of sharing it. I don't post my lousy shots in the other thread called food photography. I thought this thread is more about sharing the food rather than posting great shots, photography website or not :p
At the same time I am pretty fussy about my shots and have seen other images that were not exactly spectacular and yet, there were posted here...:)
I hope you understand my point ;-)a

I post what I cook here occasionally just to share with others. Usually, I'm so busy in the kitchen when I do cook that I don't have time to set things up properly. Besides, I'm anxious to eat before things cool down too much. :-)

I got a good deal on an after Christmas ribeye roast. So, today I did a reverse sear on it and it turned out excellent.

The first shot is before the sear at 220° for about 3 hours. Then I let it rest for a few minutes while I cranked up the oven to 500°. Then I seared the roast for 10 minutes and let it rest for about 15 minutes tented in aluminum foil.

The 2nd shot is after the first slice was made.

Spaghetti alle vongole (clams).
Very Italian thing.
I know only in some part of Italy you add tomato, but it is so much better a touch of red for a photo!

Pasta with sardines, tuna and capers...quite delicious! And since I cooked only for myself, I was able to take a proper shot with mty camera, no rush :)

It was a cool, cloudy day yesterday so I made some meatloaf. I decided to photograph the ingredients to add to my recipe card. One item not shown is some thick sliced bacon that I cut into short strips and placed on the top, after I coated the top with ketchup. I love the sliced green olives in the loaf too.

Savory and sweet treats, deep fried. Some are filled with lean pork and spinach and some with lychee, dates and pecans!
