Playing with off camera flash this morning, I caught this Anna's in the light. Both he and a male Costas have been vying for dominance over the feeder.

Wonderful Gene.

Thanks. Here's the male Costas that was at my feeder this morning too. It looks like he was also in a bit of pollen as well.

One more of the Anna's. My keeper rate is much higher on hummers in flight using my a7rIII than they ever were using my a7rII.

I should add that I placed a strip box to the left of the feeder and fired it remotely with the camera. This way, the highlights in the eye look more natural. The background is a very out of focus cinder block wall.

Oh, and my Kirk L bracket for my a7rIII was delivered today. A much better fit, this one is short so as not to cover the battery door. I'll see if I can get a couple of shots tomorrow showing that.

For now, here's just the bracket.

Heres my entry for the weekly challenge this week. For the Alone theme I decided to do a self portrait on this jetty. Image taken around midnight

After the Sandhills and on the way to GSMNP we found this guy near Watts Bar dam. One
of the few times I've used the 1.4TC on the zoomer.

Dammit Gene, you're making me want to set up in my backyard and shoot the hummingbirds that linger around our hibiscus. -?;-)a

So I was all set up for some super long morning exposures the other day and when I stepped back I thought, "man, that looks a bit ridiculous". So naturally I figured I'd get a shot of it in an equally ridiculous manner.

Meanwhile, the kludge that was the Wimberly perpendicular plate coupled to the Kirk universal L bracket mounted to the Metabones is now gone; replaced with the RRS L bracket for Metabones. Nice and clean, with the added bonus that I can use my 85L on the Sony without having to remove the L bracket first. :-P

Super long exposures = 10 stop + SR.

Have you tried that yet?

I hope no one is tired of seeing hummingbirds yet. Here's one more from this morning. I'm also including a closeup of this shot showing his droopy eyelid.

EDIT: That's my strip box reflected in his eye too.

Still haven't tried smooth reflections yet. I still just drop in a 15 stop, plus whatever grad, and likely a CPL. My to-do list is as long as my memory for it is short. -?
