Yes, my doubt stems from this.
So the new model is more performing, better af, faster and more precise, better tropicalization, better weight balance dimensions, stabilizer and 77mm filters.
Many photographers say that despite all these improvements, the 85mm 1.2 II is still hibeable for its performance, returns images with a unique dream effect.
My doubt is whether it is better to have the new technology to the detriment of the dream effect.
It is true that you do get a unique look from this lens. However, if you were to take 10 images shot with the 1.2 and 10 different images shot with the 1.4, it would be very difficult to pick out which shots belong to which lens. If you take the exact same image shot with each lens and compare them side by side, then you probably would be able to pick out the 1.2 image, but only after close examination. So, to me, in real world usage the benefits of the 1.4 far outweigh the "unique look" of the 1.2
