It's great for that. Bob Israel ( rji2goleez ) recently bought one and has been posting landscapes with the lens.
My biggest worry about the lens is that the seller, who is a familiar name on FM, hasn't been able to sell it for weeks now. He's had it a that lower price now for a couple weeks. So I worry about not just the resale value, but the re-sellability, for that lens. It took me weeks to find a buyer for my Zeiss Distagon T* 35mm 1.4 ZE last year.
Those Zeiss DSLR lenses used to sell a lot quicker and easier than they do now and I think it's because Zeiss lenses used to be the best, but Canon has caught up. The Canon 35L II beats everything and it's got AF.
