The snow is long gone now, but these are from last week's snow storm. We got 3" accumulation here in West Point (GA)...been a long long time since the area got this much snow and is the first time it's snowed at all for a few years.

Pardon Chester...he's way past due for a haircut. I might give him one this week a take a freshly groomed portrait of him.

yeah , you guys not making it easy with posting pics with the FE 35 1.4..;-)a
images have a very pleasing look

I've got the EF35L mkii..

and i'm very happy with its IQ... but it would be nicer to get full AF capabilities .. i mean the mc11 does very well .. but it does hesitate occasionally .. luckily most of my type photography is easy going . but still would be nice to have full native capabilities..

but also.. i paid 1350 for the refurbished 35 mkii.. so theres the loss involved in selling a used refurbed lens + higher cost of the fe 35
i think for now the EF 35 is working well enough for me..

jesus...lol no one told me how heavy the a7r3 is compared to the A7S hehehehe.....

do you guys use the custom recall hold functionality? I realized for me i would like that to be a custom recall toggle. I can use the program dial memory slots but hitting c3 is much faster

Off topic - has anyone recently built a pc for running Lightroom/Photoshop?
I currently use my MacBook which doesn’t really slow down unless stitching panos with 6-8 42MP files however I have been toying with the idea of building a windows PC optimised for photo editing with large editing screen.

What’s the best processor for this? I was looking at the Intel Core i7 7820X. Any input appreciated as not sure if this is overkill. Theres also an i9 7940x 14 core processor but its twice the price of the i7 7820x.

I use it to quickly toggle to a wide focus area so I don't miss shots when my AF point is in the wrong part of the frame and I don't have time to move it.

isnt PS a real memory hog? if thats the case then the really important component is the amount of RAM you have available. Second maybe the speed of the scratch disk when PS uses up all the RAM and has to use physical disk to swap info

Its been about 5 years since I built a PC so technology has changed in that time. I found this site which has some good info - https://www.pugetsystems.com …/Hardware-Recommendations (external link)

They recommend 32gb ram if you use large files in PS (which I do). The only bit I am unsure about is the CPU. This site here - http://cpu.userbenchmark.com …-Core-i7-7820X/3937vs3928 (external link) - suggests the 8700 is actually better than the 7820 but the benefit of the 7820 is the multi-core speed which will help when working in lightroom with multiple files

I was just wondering if any of you guys had recently done this as opposed to me believing what I am reading on these type of sites (where you can also buy the PCs from so a bit of bias perhaps?)

Sorry Eddie I can’t help you since I haven’t built a PC. I would say that memory is important and get SSDs for your main drive and cache drive. Don’t go for the most powerful CPU.
