You guys remember me mentioning possibly shooting the missions for a client in charge of preserving them? Well, my proposal was accepted! I'll be documenting four of our missions to track their overall condition. One mission per quarter and this may continue for 5 years. It's not the most exciting photography but I'll have access to areas the general public isn't allowed so I'll also take some personal images after finishing my paid work.

Awesome.. Congrats!

I got that on day of release, but was very dissapointed. Graphically its superb, but its just a car racing game and not a Gran Turismo. I like to tinker on the cars. Multiplayer is a mess. A mate in Australia and make a group to race each other online and get put in seperate races.

Thank you sir!

Everything I've read suggest not to get the high end graphics card if you are not gaming. I'm not sure about 4K video editing which I'm sure could benefit from having a beefy GPU. I would get a dedicated GPU but a mid-tier one. Here is some additional considerations on choosing a monitor:

https://www.color-management-guide.com …r-for-photography.html#4k (external link)

Dell, NEC, and Asus make some really nice displays for photo and video editing.

Really good read Alfredo, answered a lot of my questions

I could never get into multi-player for track sims, so when I saw that GT sport was so online centric it turned me off.
Inevitably someone either doesn't know how to drive or wants to an a-hole and starts bumping you in corners... And the handling in these games is so unforgiving that you get taken out of the race.

I just have one that clamps onto my desk for now...I have already made it known that when I have to buy a new computer, the old one will be hooked up to a proper seat and racing setup in the basement...

I mispoke...its Forza...Gran Tursimo is Sony...Forza is Microsoft and XBOX...either way, they are good fun...Forza 7 is all motorsport based and I love it...since I don't go to the track anymore, this lets me at least get excited about tracking...

One day I will have one...

Forza is awesome. I actually prefer it over gran tourismo. The Forza horizon series is lots of fun too, and the soundtracks are always on point.

Its been about 5 years since I built a PC so technology has changed in that time. I found this site which has some good info - https://www.pugetsystems.com …/Hardware-Recommendations (external link)

They recommend 32gb ram if you use large files in PS (which I do). The only bit I am unsure about is the CPU. This site here - http://cpu.userbenchmark.com …-Core-i7-7820X/3937vs3928 (external link) - suggests the 8700 is actually better than the 7820 but the benefit of the 7820 is the multi-core speed which will help when working in lightroom with multiple files

I was just wondering if any of you guys had recently done this as opposed to me believing what I am reading on these type of sites (where you can also buy the PCs from so a bit of bias perhaps?)

Here's an interesting build over at Fstoppers for a video and photo editing computer.

Nice tones and composition on those David.

Would love your thoughts on the Milvus 135 f2 lens. Yes it’s a beast of a lens but so very tempting. Thank you.

I owned the previous version - which should be optically identical - twice. Optically it's perfect; can't criticize anything about it...at all. It has a highly refined bokeh. Not super creamy like you see with the Canon 135L, but finely detailed and much more sophisticated.

For me I just couldn't keep the lens. It's not that it's too heavy by itself (though it is heavy!), but that it's weight limits how many other lenses I can carry at a time. I frequently used it in tandem with the Otus 55mm - a great pair! Now that I own a Batis 135mm I finally have the exact perfect 135mm lens just right for me. If the Batis is worse than the Milvus in any way it might be it's slight pincushion distortion and that's about it (other than the obvious inability to shoot f/2).
