Ha no, say for example this image. It was taken for Mandalay Bay. They might want to use it and add text. I would never crop an image because later they will say, hey do you have any more room on this image? I always leave space for them to add text or a logo or a caption. I still have the rule of thirds applied here and yeah i do agree itd be nicer closer, but I just left it to get the ambiance of the grill and flames for the client to crop if needed.
There are a load of times on shoots where I have wanted to go closer, we all know the closer you get to a dish the better dof, but more often than not the client will request to have more room to add what they need so I have to pull back. Leave some space for the designers to do their thing also.
