Wow. And the last update was supposed to make it faster (it didn’t). DXO used to be super slow, but they’ve improved a lot. Amazing that Adobe can’t figure out how to speed up. If I were a pro and needed to turnaround thousands of wedding photos, I’d be all in on C1.
I don't know if we will see a significantly faster Lightroom Classic (hate that name) version. It appears that Adobe is more committed to Lightroom CC.

What's interesting is that the user has ideas on how to cull OUTSIDE of lightroom. I find this to be very important if you want a fast workflow. Combine that with preparing your DNG's, you can speed up workflow quite a bit.
Working on HDR pano's like that article, will be slow to very slow, just no way around that. It's everything else that concerns me. If day to day snaps are slow..... it would be annoying as heck.
Yep agree. Whenever I'm adding local adjustments such as the radial or gradient filter and especially the brush adjustments, Lightroom crawls. Culling has improved a little but it could be faster.

i had a computer built about a year and half ago ..
Asus x99 mb
i7 6800
asus gtx 1070
32ddr ram(corsair)
liquid cooled(corsair)
1tb ssd(evo)
aprox $2400..
originally built with video editing in mind..runs like a champ with 1080(unless i go too crazy with special effects ) .. proxies still needed for 4k ...
for light room and PS.. i was satisfied .it was a little bit sluggish with Fuji files.. but they did admit that its a work in progress (no updates in a while).. but it was acceptable.
well , until i got a7r3.. now LR can be a bit annoying ..especially when zoomed in / panning
while my build was definely not top of the line , (certainly not for video editing) i thought it would hang in well with LR when i got the a7r3
i was thinking to take in to some one to maybe tweak it and see if i can get better overall performance.. it is overclocked 17% using ASUS built in software .. i didn't notice any differenc though
but yeah that guys parts are better and more up to date than mine.. and if he's still struggling then theres no hope for my modest build

Nice build. Yeah these large 42MP files are tough for Lightroom to handle.
