Winter Session 3

The last part of my snow session! Another model. I've used this girl a few times and find her to be quite photogenic and relaxed in front of the camera. Hopefully, viewing snow photos will inspire some to get out and take winter shots before the snow is all gone! I'm getting itchy to get out again and hope to soon. It's such a challenge to find the right light and how to deal with the positives and negatives of a giant snow reflector! Also, I love to get the snow coming down and overcast (for these locations that wouldn't work in sunlight,) but I think I'm going for some sunlight the next go-around. Here are my favorites with pretty Victoria!

I was looking for more compression on the long shots and was in a place that worked well for the 135. For close-ups, my 85 is better much of the time, especially when I close down as I do for head-shots. To set the 135 at 4.0, for example, I have to double the shutter speed that I do with the 85 and, in low-light, that means upping my ISO more than I prefer (noise.) Also, the closer you are, the more pixels. Though I love the 135 and do use it for closer shots, I also find that it is softer than the 85 for head-shots much of the time (a longer lens with no IS.) Just my personal experience.

Another good series. Love #4, great eyes, love the hat and scarf and the texture of the birch tree makes the shot.

The last shot is the best for me. Very nice series.

Yes! That giant snow reflector is both good AND challenging for exposure. Thanks.
