I just bought 1Ds about 11 days ago... it has about 336,000+ shutter counts... I only paid just a Benjamin for it. No lie. I replaced that crappy old Canon battery with a third party. It works fine, color looks good, shadow just aren't as advanced like the newer bodies but overall its a good old classic FF body, I like the way it felt when holding it in hands. i would stay in ISO 100-400 for color, 100-1250 for monochrome film effect.

Congrats on the 1Ds! Iso 400 rocks on that bodie, such great film-like quality with those files.

What do you consider as a best prime lens for 1ds? Currently I have 50mm 1.8 stm which is a fantastic lens but little too strong color for me.

It actually depends on your taste. Everyone have different styles and taste of lenses choice.

I recently acquired my 1Ds at a thrift store for a princely sum of $200; it has less than 4,300 shutter actuations and came with all the original accessories, box, and documentation. It even had the original store receipt from B&H for $7,095! I know a little about the 1D series and thought I'd take a chance. I charged the batteries, inserted an old CF card I had laying around, and wow! I was just blown away at the colors...so natural looking. I noticed there has not been any recent postings, so I joined this forum today and thought I add my impression. The attached pics were straight from the camera at default settings with a Canon EF 40mm STM at f/2.8.

Hi there. Welcome to the forum! Great to see someone posting to the thread again.

Great find! Yes, the 1Ds still can deliver amazing images. And at the prices they are going for these days, they're a bargain indeed. They're also a great way to get into the 1 series of pro bodies. Hope you have lots of fun with it, and keep posting!

I recently came across some of my older 1Ds files, brought back some fond memories of a great photographic tool. I prefer the "film look" to my photographs, and in my opinion, 1Ds raw files are the closest to the "film look" than any other digital camera before or after the 1Ds.

For me, the "sweet spot" was at iso 400.

I had to dust off an ancient laptop that had windows xp loaded and installed the original Canon cd in order to connect to the camera with a firewire cable. I had to do this to change the author metadata on the camera (had the original owner's name). Has anyone cracked the code on how to connect this wonderful camera to a modern windows 10 computer? It's not really critical as I simply just pull the CF card to download but would be nice to be able to connect to a PC if I had to. I'm still amazed at the color tones I get from this camera.

Hi, Just bought a Eos 1DS MKI, any ideas where I can get an Interface cable IFC-450D6 from?, just bought the body and battery with 36k actuations which is quite low for £200 which is a steal tbh, not received it yet but think this site could be quite useful. Any advice welcome.
