Thanks Alfredo. Mine doesn’t even look all that sharp at 24 if I’m being honest.

That sucks Eddie. I will check some images tonight in Lightroom.

Guys, I am having some concerns with my 16-35 GM at 35mm (the lenses weak focal length). Im trying to work out if its acceptable or needs to be returned. If you can be bothered please check this thread - http://www.fredmiranda.com …pic/1528392/0#lastmessage (external link)

Any advise welcome (Returns are a PITA here)

looks bad, maybe physical damage? I had a nikon 14-24 that behaved like that and I had to get it repaired. Afterwards, it was sharp as could be.

Check out the bokeh from the 70-300G, not too shabby.
Warmed up to 24F today, the snow/ice had dissipated by the time I woke
up and a bit of blue sky!

Possibly. It was shipped with a cardboard box around the Sony box. The cardboard box was a tight fit so no extra padding. Could have been damaged in transit maybe. I’ve requested a return from the seller as I wouldn’t know where to start sending it for repair. I’m just nervous about trying a second copy now

Thankfully I didn’t rush to sell my CV15!

my 14-24 came in perfect condition, but it was obvious that an element was out of wack. @ 14mm, DOF would mask, but 24mm and it was way off, all corners really soft, couldnt even get them sharp even if I focused on the corners.

your copy @24 looks decent, about on par with the 12-24 @24 I'de say. I'm confident that my older 16-35 f4 @ 35 is much stronger than your current GM copy @35. Cant be right IMO.

Dangit! Hopefully the seller just accepts my return without any hassle. I’ll have to then decide if I want to roll the dice again or stick with what I have

Maybe I should just pick up the f/4 version and keep my current lenses too. It’s half the price!

I’m sorry to hear that Eddie. Yeah I hope the return goes smoothly. Perhaps my copy performs similarly and I haven’t paid enough attention. Now I’m very curious.

Hopefully I’ve not worried you Alfredo and you find it to be fine. I think you would have noticed by now. I was struggling to get sharp images at f/5.6 when shooting at 24-35mm which made me do the tripod checks with crops

I got the f4 for this years holiday as a lightweight walkabout lens for walking round Disney. My plan was to sell it when I got back, however it’s now become one of my most used lenses
