I had my try at a couple of snowflakes. Next time I need to get some glass and back light these. I'm sure that will result in a better image.

These are both shot handheld at ~3:1 magnification.

I agree, back lighting would probably help a lot. Three to one magnification only? These certainly look bigger than that?
Either way, these look pretty good, and I think you are off to a good start. :-)

The Captain and crew finally got their stuff together, now if we can only remember where we left it.

I think you're right. I started off around 2.5:1 but the flakes were pretty small. I think I ended up closer to 4:1 or maybe a touch over.

An orchid my 3 y.o. granddaughter picked out for my birthday in 2016. It lost the first blossoms a month or so later, but started producing a new batch a few days ago. It still has three more buds to open.

First attempt at focus stacking with Photoshop. I've used CombineZP in the past, but never Photoshop.

Leaf (11x) (external link) by Can Tunçer (external link), on Flickr

An ordinary leaf photographed with backlight. I put one Jansjö LED light on the front and one on the back. I think the details of the leaves come out in backlight. Looking at the photo from a distance, it looks like a city photo taken from the satellite.
