You are absolutely right about the quality of explore images being poor lately. Still, some gorgeous gems in there every day.

I must admit #28 right now is pure dog crap. :p

I saw that after I made my post. Congrats.

This (external link) remains the ONLY explored image I have. I think peaked at #192. lol Nice shot, but I think I've come a long way in the 5 years since then.

When they are high up it's easy to count, but I use Flickr Scout too. https://bighugelabs.com/scout.php (external link) you can link your account to help find your images.

I tend to post every 5 days. My most success comes from posting on Monday and Thursday rotation. 26 made it to Explore last year...

David, that image is getting a lot of attention, well deserved. Its a cool shot for sure!

Thanks Travis for the tips. If I make an image public but do not add it to any groups, does that count against me for Explore?

---------------

I wanted to capture progress on our new Frost Bank Tower as seen here on the left. I was fortunate to have a colorful sunset. I used the SR app at 256 frames to create this dramatic version of the scene. I love the huge cranes on top resting for the next day's work.

You’re getting great use of the Zeiss 2/35 ZE and you’re really making me wish I’d snagged it. :p Love those LE sunset glowing clouds.

Haha! I’ve been very happy with it. 35mm is just a great focal length for me. I’m glad I followed your recommendation to snag it. Thank you!

Edit: I think one of my images just got Explored. It’s the sunset one with the tree framing the lighthouse.

Well, the lowly 28-70mm sort of done okay..... I say sort of, because although some images are sharp enough for my liking, I had trouble with focusing. Now, I don't know what blame here...... (Me...?:mrgreen: )

I have "Custom 1" set up for landscape - Av priority, 2 sec timer, 100ISO, matrix metering, etc plus, manual focus...... Now, when I was manual focusing, I was sometimes getting the auto magnification & the bottom 'scale' & other times I wasn't getting anything except red peeking on the full screen. Whether this was something to do with the temperature, I don't know. Yet!! When it wasn't working, I remember spinning the dial & the aperture changed so I guess lens/body communication was there... Strange....

Anyway, even though the morning hike didn't really involve a sunrise as such, I'm happy with some images I got :-) Plus, we went somewhere new 8-)

Looks like the lowly one did a wonderful job. The 28-70, the 28/2, the 50 macro, the 85/1.8 are all unsung heros in my book.

Thanks MM, just what I wanted to know. I’d been keeping in case I went back to Canon for wildlife, however having invested so much in Sony now, I can’t see me going back.

Chris no turning back for me. Paid my dues. Carried that heavy kit too many times too many places. Plus
I'm very satisfied with the Sony kit....it's always been me and not the gear anyway.

Randy, Flickr in a way is a social media....there are games to be played. Like life and politics eh :)
I play it too....but my goal is total views and I'm closing in on my goal of 5x10^6. Once I reach it I'll
then call myself a photographer :)
That's funny because what I truly know about this pursuit could fill a thimble.

How can I see #12? Congrats to you, David, and Eddie. Do you guys not post anything on Flickr for 10 days if your image was explored?
