Sold Canon 100-400L (original) and purchased Sigma 150-600 C, and the following are my first shots with the new lens mounted to Canon 5DIII. I didn't experience front or back focusing, so no need for calibration, I'd think.

Images appear crisp and clear to me.
I'd echo your reasoning that no microadjustments are necessary.

Great. I love my original 100-400L..so how does this comparing to Canon?
I have found the tripod collar of Nikon 80-400 aFS may fit Sigma C because of 84mm diameter.

Strictly regards to IQ (color, contrast, tone, sharpness), I think both lenses are about equal, including the sharpness at 400mm and 600mm, respectively. 100-400L is lighter and less bulky and therefore easier to handle. I like that Sigma comes with the focal distance "Lock" button, VERY useful especially when shooting moon. 100-400L would slide. Sigma, while heavier, is very handholdable, but I use a monopod anyway for greater stability.

My final verdict between the two lenses?

I'm NOT missing the 100-400L!

Consider the 100-400L II.

OP - the new lens is definitely sharper than the old push-pull.
