For me, I find it optically better, Even with the teleconverters, particularly the 2x. I use my 2x a lot and can get very good results with it. Losing a metre from the mfd is so much more useful. You cannot ignore the weight saving, but the balance of the lens is great, Its no longer top heavy..

Here is a shot using the 2x. Surprisingly it is WAAAAAAY better than on my 500 f4. Surprisingly good.

A 100% crop from LR with standard sharpening and some NR in place. It loses contrast and gains that hazy sharpness but if I need 1200mm I will not hesitate to use it.

the ad i found online(craigslist)says it was just serviced, no scratches, body is in good condition with the trunk.(the usual)

what should be the “fair” asking price when i meet in person.

(price listed for $3,500)
