Gene, David, Travis, Eddie, others, when you're exporting your images as sRGB, how are you handling color shifts in the blue tones? I'm working on an image and when I soft proof it, the nice rich blue color in my sky on a blue hour shot goes to purple. It's so frustrating. I'm using TKActions panel to resize and export.

I'm afraid I can't be much help Alfredo. I use sRGB mode from camera to the upload of the finished image. Since I don't print often, I don't feel I have a need to use any other color profiles. About the only time I've noticed my sky shifting to purple is due to over saturation it seems.

This shot I took during the blue hour at Idyllwild is showing purples on the left. I should have pulled down the saturation of the blues some to prevent that.

Here is the image that was giving some issues with the blue sky. I think I finally figured it out.

Built in 1927, the Tower Life Building is a historic neo-gothic building and is one of the few eight sided buildings in the world. It's very beautiful to see at night. This was shot when the ambient light matched the city lights. Two exposures merged using luminosity masks for the highlights.

Sorry Alfredo I’ve never noticed the shift, not to say it doesn’t happen it’s just I’ve never noticed

have you tried using a hue sat layer but play with the lightness. bump it up 1 point at a time

also you can try and do a bit of color balance and then mask out everything and apply to only the areas that are out of gamut.

I hope this helps even if just a little bit

No problem Eddie. It doesn’t always happen in my images but I shoot a lot of blue hour so I have to watch out for it.

Thank you. I switched the mode to color proofing (forget the actual name of it) in PS and then applied a color balance adjustment to get the hues closer to my original.

Yep. The sky gets this intense blue color at a certain point after sunset. My original had more of a baby blue hue to the sky.

I am in the middle of David deChumin's video series on Mastering Our Craft...it fits in with my mindset for 2018...try not to get distracted by shiny new gear or incremental changes to my kit, focus on skills, and filling any gaps in those skills...we can't master the craft if we are always changing or chasing gear.

Would you mind sharing a link to David's video series? I can't seem to find it...

Haha....This reminds me of a comment I once made when hanging with some buddies after a great day on the river....."The only thing that's almost as fun as kayaking is talking about kayaking!"
