Well then, someone went ahead and accepted my current bid of 2750$ for the A7Riii on Greentoe. I guess I am getting into Sony territory sooner than I thought :)
Thanks JeffreyG for pointing out the website.

Now time to go make an offer on the 55mm 1.8 on there, see how much I can get it for. Probably going to pick up the Flashpoint Zoom-Mini TTL R2 while I'm at it.

Vinz, it’s too hard to check decentering that way. Alignment comes into play which could give a false issue. The easiest way to check decentering is as follows -

1- Set camera one stop down from wide open
2- Set WB to daylight
3- Turn ibis off
4- Set to manual focus
5- Set camera to manual mode and dial in exposure when standing outside ensuring high shutter speed (harsh daylight is good)
6- Manually focus on the centre on something in the distance (a tall building for example)
7- Without refocusing position the same thing in the extreme upper left corner and shoot
8- Move to extreme lower left corner and shoot
9-Turn camera upside down and position in upper left again and shoot
10- Whilst still upside down position in lower left and shoot
11- Take all 4 images to photoshop and crop the corners where the object is
12- Realign and compare
13- All 4 corners should be the same (I.e if one is Soft they should all be soft by the same amount )

This takes about 15 seconds to take the photos and a couple of minutes to crop and compare. You will never get a perfectly centered lens but that’s ok, what you are checking for is one or two corners that are drastically worse than the others I.e two are sharp and two are soft or 3 are soft and one is really really soft for example

Heres my 24-70GM at 24mm f/4 using this method. Not perfect but good enough for me. At 70mm its slightly sharper in one corner but again its an acceptable level to me (zooms are normally worse than primes). Also these 100% crops are the absolute extreme corners of the frame

Physical HDD + Cloud Backup MKIII

Since I'm using a laptop, I got tired of having to plug my backup drive into my laptop all the time and kept forgetting to do so each night. So I looked into cloud platforms that can work with network drives and crashplan can do so and gives you unlimited storage. So I plugged my backup drive into my router and turned it into a network drive. I set up my mac to automatically mount the network drive whenever I connect to my WIFI network via these instructions (external link).

So whenever I connect to my Wifi network, carbon copy cloner will clone my SSD over to the network drive, then crashplan will create a redundant backup in the cloud.

The downsides to this vs plugging my 4TB backup are 1. read/write speeds are a lot slower via NAS vs USB 2. crashplan is $10 a month vs $5 a month for backblaze.

I think this works for me since I have a TB to work with on my SSD for current files and the backup drive is purely for archived stuff I would access for less frequently.

Raya Pro 3 update is out there for anyone that has it...I am still going through some of the videos and learning the new stuff...but I went back to some of the originals to re-familiarize myself with them...since I will likely start doing more blending again this year...

At which I was confronted with something quite troubling...I had not watched the original Mastering Raya Pro series in a long time. I bought it in January of 2016. So I saw a couple images that I knew I had seen much more recently than January 2016. I knew it was on Flickr and it was someone that posts here in the Sony Lounge...and I know this is not going to be a popular post...but I don't agree with theft of images one bit...and I think we have covered that before...to have someone that participates in this group feel compelled to steal images from tutorials and then use them as their own...its a huge problem for me...I love that some of the famous photographers are willing to provide images to follow along with in their tutorials, it makes it easy to follow along...but they are explicit in stating that you should not use them for your own good...

You be the judge...same images...different edits...claimed as their own...

Here is a shot of the most perfect replica in America of the original Shrine in Lourdes, France located in San Antonio. Towering from ground level, the Grotto is made of reinforced concrete shaped to resemble the cave in which the Blessed Mother appeared to St. Bernadette. Within the grotto a statue of Our Lady of Lourdes looks down upon Bernadette who is kneeling in prayer (not seen in this photo).

I agree and support everything Travis said. There is no place for stealing others images. I will be contacting the admins again on the forum. This needs their attention.

Ban you? ;) It’s not you that needs banning. Your post is much appreciated by me Travis.

Fstoppers recently dealt with this issue as well. Someone had taken a raw image provided in a Elia Locardi and used some or all of it and the stolen image was featured by a Canon promotional: https://fstoppers.com …elements-and-taken-211794 (external link) It’s not clear to me the entire image was stolen, but clearly the sky was. Whether stolen in part or whole, it’s still image theft imo.

I just can’t imagine using someone else’s image and trying to pass it off as one of my own.

This really saddens me.
