Just an observation, are you using Auto ISO?

Don't get me wrong, I think they are excellent shots, but with that kinda lighting, I wouldn't think it'd take it to 1000 and/or 640 outdoors.

Looking at the shutter speed, and the highlights in the decorative mirror frame in the dress image, I'm guessing the OP was making sure his max sync speed was engaged?
