Quick studio session with this little girl who turns 3 this week

Used two AD200's...key light is inside a 38 inch octa, fill is inside a 32 inch octa

I think the AD600 is a better choice when shooting small kids where you're firing pretty rapidly to capture natural expressions. I had a lot of dark shots when the key light didn't fire, and some of them would have been really nice shots. I forgot to charge the 600!

Pretty! Love the backdrop. I need 2 x AD200 :)

Playing with beer. I tried using the lighting techniques shown from the free "Beer Photography & Retouching With Rob Grimm" course that was linked to earlier. This is my first try and I used three lights. One shooting with a 7" reflector shooting through a sheet of tracing paper background, the 2nd a strip light behind and to the right of the bottle for a highlight running the length of the glass and a 3rd light shot from above and in front of the glass to light the label and head of the beer.

Today was the first day out properly with the 24-70GM. We visited a wildlife park near were we were staying and I was carrying the 24-70 on a peak design strap across my chest and I also had a photo messenger bag across the same way with a x100F and CV15 in it (so I could reduce the weight by not carrying that bag) but overall found it fine walking about for 5 hours. Really loving this lens and the versatility the zoom gives which is exactly what I am after when out with the family. On review of my shots I shot them all at f/2.8 (oops) and the majority were at 70 with 35 and 50 in second place and the wide end least which was to be expected as I was trying to photograph wildlife albeit through mesh and fencing etc so not the best for that. I should add that I had a B+W CPL on the lens for all these shots.

Anyway heres some shots -

I am getting used to the a6500 after being with Canon for many years. It is a big adjustment going from big to small and all digital. I normally use 1/640 with shutter priority with no stabilization. I was testing the dual stabilization (body and lens) with this shot at 1/400. The colors are from Adobe LR standard with no color boosting. I did sharpen, dehaze and adjusted exposure. Shot with Sony 16-70 f/4 lens.

Nice view of Mokoliʻi, or as it's better known as, "Chinaman's Hat". Brings back a lot of memories of my two years on Oahu.

Some macro refraction shots with olive oil and water.

Tokina AT-X 90mm f2.5

My originals were even more vibrant and had better color gradation compared to these exported jpeg versions. I guess some colors were beyond what sRGB could handle.

Thanks David! It was a fun exercise especially due to the cold weather we had today.

Hmmm...that doesn't look anything like any 10 ball I've ever seen on a pool table. :-)

LoL. I borrowed my son’s bullseye target since it was so colorful. It worked well.
